kohlrak: To be fair, Orwell was a socialist. Kinda unsurprising, really. This was all about watching your government to prevent it. Often times to find out what people are really about is to see what they focus on during catastophes. Someone i know was just diagnosed with a caner with a survivability rate equivalent to the chances of getting covid after getting both doses of a covid vaccine. The diagnosis of the tumor and it's location is so fresh, it's not even officially cancer, yet (results came back less than 24 hours ago), and the wife is focused on money. Books like these are simulated catastrophes, and what was Orwell focused on? If 1984 was to warn us of the dangers of communism, then animal farm was to show us how we get to 1984. Orwell was no prophet, but a repentant witch.

kohlrak: As far as the poor are concerned, the middle class is the rich, but they can't see that. It's not a surprise, either, because the middle class acts like the rich, too. Notice the other replies, but they don't seem to understand this connection, because they don't see themselves as such. As a result, they can't see themselves in the mirror, but everyone else.
