can you play as a foreign group voting a dictator for your origin country who then suppresses your own people in said home country by e.g. banning wikipedia whilst leeching off welfare and non-suppression of the other country you currently live in?
turks in germany should definately play this game then.

jdsiege: Okay but:

New France

A pocket of liberalism nestled in the Deep South, its people are consensus driven, tolerant, and comfortable with government involvement in the economy. Woodard says New France is among the most liberal places in North America. New France is focused around New Orleans in Louisiana as well as the Canadian province of Quebec.

jdsiege: It isn't lumped in with Arkansas or called Mississippi. Odd decision on behalf of the devs.

On the topic of the article, the author seems to have trouble distinguishing New Orleans from Louisiana.
Please don't argue with him, he might never go away. :P
Just leave him alone to march around in his white sheet and burn his cross.

And oh fuck, another one.

Has GOG ever had to close an Release Thread? XD

I noticed the negative rep after posting. I haven't frequented the GD forums in quite some time (nor plan to in it's current state) so I don't recognize many people anymore.

Question: Are there scenarios or is the game moddable in order for regions like Flanders, Brittany or the Basque Country to obtain their independancy and thus can be played as a "new" country?

vanchann: The game is still listed as an upcoming one on the first page.
It should be moved to the newly released games list.
Should be fixed now, thanks!

Haven't really checked the forum the past few days. This is literally the first new thread I've visited since, and it serves as a reminder why it may be better to keep a safe distance.

Thanks, by the way.

Looks interesting, even with the mediocre rating. But 1 GB VRAM requirement for such a strategy game, meh... :(

From the game card: "Please consider downloading the free demo to check whether the game runs well on your system."

Where is the demo? Can you fix that too?
But not by removing the comment from the game card. ;P

To be fair, things have been a lot better recently than they used to. The improvement since the moderation started, despite many difficulties at the beginning, is undeniable I think. Still, things will never be perfect, so don't let occasional relapses like this drive you off.
Well done GOG dealing with some of the posters however you missed a couple
Is this any good?
Is it like one of those Paradox games (HoI, EU,CK)?

Like I said, I haven't spent as much time here lately, and was never as active as some of the other old members, but personally I don't see much of an improvement. I was planning to only check out the new release threads for a while, but apparently even that isn't enough to escape the forum drama and nutcases.

Overall, this place just doesn't seem as fun and friendly as it used to be when I first joined. For me a gaming forum has to serve one purpose, I want to talk about old and new releases, and other gaming related topics, and ideally it should enhance my experience with the games I play. For several months now, the GOG forum has been more likely to have the opposite effect for me.

To give one specific example: I was really looking forward to the release of Yooka-Laylee, since I played and enjoyed all the old Rare games on the Nintendo 64. But instead of discussions about the game, the only Yooka-Laylee related threads here were about the political drama surrounding it. And when it was finally released, a small but very loud group of people ( or maybe an even smaller group, with multiple accounts ) spammed the game with biased, useless protest "reviews" and ratings. Fast forward a few weeks, I finally bought my own copy and started playing it a few days ago -- Who knew, it's actually very good, and meets every expectation I had for that kind of game.

So the reviews and discussions here did absolutely nothing to enhance my experience with the game, and I would have been better off ignoring all of it entirely, and just focusing on the game itself instead. And this has been the common theme here for a long time now. The forum is full of fighting, trolling, political rants and general negativity.

I think to some extent we can blame the political climate, and in particular that past US presidential election. It divided the country, and people have been fighting non-stop ever since. The situation in Europe and elsewhere is heated too, but it seems to be the worst in the US. To get back to the Yooka-Laylee example, while reviews here and at Steam have been spammed with politically motivated messages, at the German Amazon website the vast majority of reviewers give it top ratings, and no one even seems to mention or care about that "Jon Tron Incident".

On topic: I'm afraid this isn't my genre at all, but best of luck to the devs. Here's hoping the crazies won't scare off any potential customers. At least all the political comments are vaguely related to the game for once.
Never heard of this but sounds interesting. Would like to play a grand strategy game that has the focus on politics and diplomacy compared to war and conquest. Might pick this up at a later point.

I played it a bit now and I find it some kind of funny, how the game makes several connections to real political dilemmas nowadays. It's not a HoI or EU where you do micromanagement of your army. The focus is clearly on politics as you might suggest when you read the title.

Like almost normal for Paradox games, this game has some issues left too, although they are not gamebreaking. Lets hope it won't be like the everlasting contruction zone of Paradox games.
