It’s time to take a dive into a great adventure in the Game Boy era – Save me Mr Tako: Definitive Edition is now available on GOG! It arrives with a -20% launch discount, and hurry up – the offer ends on April 25th, 1 PM UTC.

In Save me Mr Tako, you’ll navigate through colorful and challenging levels, using Mr Tako's unique abilities to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies. With its retro graphics and chip-tune soundtrack, it’s a nostalgic trip back to the era of 8-bit gaming. Apart from the retro touch though, it includes a variety of rather modern features as well – multiple endings, a range of collectibles, and the ability to play as other characters with their own unique abilities. Get that boy gaming...
I can't fathom how anyone could be that nostalgic for Gameboy to give something this awful appearance.
Too bad there's no trailer.

Yeah, what so hard on putting a trailer when they already have one to show and just slap the GOG logo in the end.

Here you go, the goshdarn trailer

Never underestimate the power of nostalgia.

I never owned a GameBoy, so I'm not really in the target group for this, yet even I can see the love and admiration for the original system, that must have went into the creation of this game...so why hate on it?

Just because it's not for you (and me) doesn't mean that others can't appreciate and enjoy it for what it apparently is meant to be: a (seemingly) well executed reminiscence to a gaming system, many people still have very fond memories of.

If someone would invest the same amount of work in a new game to feed my nostalgia for the C-64, I would definitely be willing to invest some money in it.

The difference is, Gameboy specifically is widely known for having crappy display/visuals with it being just shades of gray-green/mono-color in general. Even among its fans. At least go for Gameboy Color's mixed palette!

Not the guy you replying but why are you complaining that "The image isn't as terrible as the original GB screen" bruh what kind of excuse is that? Do you expect us to play the game on our PC with blurry janky image?

This game is more like a love letter to the original GameBoy machine. But it doesn't mean it has to copy the flaws of that console as well. Imagine if someone make a video game for Virtual Boy, do you expect the developer also include the part where we get nauseous after using Virtual boy after an hour?

Somehow you grossly misunderstood me to saying the complete opposite of what I actually said: Gameboy is notoriously one of the worst displays/graphics systems we've ever had and it makes no sense to try to emulate it so closely as this game is.

So, what you really want? A crisper graphic? A more colorful display? What?
