Dance your demons away.

UPDATE: The holidays are just around the corner, so let's turn it dancing, shall we? The free Deck the Dubstep DLC is a single-song pack with a track by Andross and some festive secrets hidden inside. Come on, everyone, time to shake our belly like a bowl full of jelly!

The Metronomicon, a rhythm-based RPG where you and your party dungeon-crawl in sync, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Disco is not dead, it just dwells in the strangest of places. Like inside neon-bathed dungeons, full of musically-empowered monsters described in the mysterious Metronomicon. Eight unlikely heroes will venture there, ready to deliver tone-death, grab as much loot as they can carry, and then awkwardly dance away to the next level. Apart from synchronizing their moves to the amazing, fully-licenced soundtrack, they can draw from a vast selection of devastating spells, buffs, and items in order to heal their teammates or nuke the rhythm-mongering creatures that stand in their way. Fix yourself an eccentric hairdo and get your groove going, because when dancing is a matter of life and death, stage fright is not an option.

Become the rockstar of a dungeon full of arrhythmic monsters waiting to out-dance you, in The Metronomicon, DRM-free on GOG.com.

IAmSinistar: Ha, I should probably fire it up then! I've got some OSTs in heavy rotation on my playlist as well. Currently DEADBOLT is topping the charts here. :)

ReynardFox: Can't go wrong with a Danny Baranowsky soundtrack, NecroDancer's music is bloody wonderful... though I give you an earworm warning, I've had tracks from it stuck in my head for weeks. :p
avatar
omega64: I've spent 10 times that listening to the OST, I even have a t-shirt. xD
avatar
ReynardFox: I am AWFUL at the game, I can't beat world 2, I just can't... but I can't get mad at it because of the music.
Same. Never beat World 2, mostly because I don't like the music in world 2 for the default OST.

Matruchus: Well this is the first game on gog I can't see the trailer for since the publisher decided to censor the trailer for my country. LoL.
avatar
JudasIscariot: It's not the publisher of the game that's doing that, I can tell you that much.
The video's not blocked in my country, but it features an ad, even on the store page and even though it is on GOG's YouTube channel. Is it intended? I've checked some of the most recent videos on the channel and it seems that the videos for Avadon 3: The Warborn and Mirror's Edge also feature ads (although it doesn't work for the latter one, for some reason). :\
As a middle-aged Midwestern white guy, do I have any hope of making it past the tutorial?
I'm happy I'll be able to play this game. Thanks to all involved in bringing it here.

Switch to another in-game soundtrack. There are three to choose from, #3 in World 2 is the most tolerable. I did and I managed to get to the third storyline character.

Also, I may be wrong, but I *think* using an in-game soundtrack is only required for unlocking achievements. So, theoretically, you create a custom soundtrack and slot in World 1 songs everywhere (maybe).
Hmmm... while it looks somewhat interesting I am never going to pick it up. I'm terrible at this kind of game and it would be very embarrassing to see a game over screen during the tutorial or while fighting the first or second mook.

Glad for those who like the genre, tho.

I know which songs are good, I've spent so long listening to the OST's.
Just not interested in going back to the game itself sadly. :l

I wonder who it was, considering I can't see it either.

This game looks like the type of quirky one I might like! I really enjoyed Before the Echo (previously known as Sequence) another rhythm based rpg (though not available here) and also Crypt of the Necrodancer. I'll add it to my wishlist to purchase when I can :-)
It seems odd to have a rhythm game with no soundtrack. That said, I really need to pick up Crypt of the Necrodancer.
Any chance of the soundtrack coming here?
Oh weird, GOG recycled the release thread for the DLC announcement.

So has anyone here bought and played this? Opinions on the game if so?

NuffCatnip: .. but before buying the game I'd like to listen to a couple tracks of the OST, since the music is a core 'mechanic' I'd like to know if it's any good....
Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USAfbHwt_Vs&list=PLX7EvP8CPFZddMm21kBa0irwDfFopPFzy
"Fighting with the Melody" is probably the catchiest among them.

Thanks!
Was looking for the OST on Youtube on release day, no wonder I didn't find anything. :)

Well it is a nice game. Quite hard or I'm just bad at it, your choice ;-)
All in all I had fun playing it, only annoying thing were some levels where enemies let boulders fall which are hiding what you need do play.
Wait, what?! The game is one week old and the devs are already releasing DLCs?! I think they should consider adding this tune in the next one ;)
