It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

I didn't noticed anything. The rep thing was really messed up, i believe.
Just because there were downvotes doesn't mean there was always abuse. Some posts just sucked.

Some people just didnt bother... in the end we are here for games, not for the people or forums.

Ive actually suggested social media forums to devs million time, but they dont wanna do it. Some genres like MMORPG would benefit a ton from social media forums I think, you need to have guild and raid leads for sure, etc.

Bingo!
And it's part of human nature to rather express critique than praise.
That's also why we rarely (have) see(n) high repped comments - most people simply don't bother clicking the (+).
That has been true in the past, and that is still true now.
Forums never used to have a rep system in the past, I'm thankful that they removed it, this isn't reddit after all. People abused the system and I was a victim of it for a while.

I made one tiny mistake on a thread once since I missed a small detail in the rules and people downvoted me to hell, to the aholes that did this to me tough luck sunshine.

I apologize for the necro.

Now that the negative rep feature has been removed for the past 1.5 years, I was wondering if a mod can help restore my positive rep so I can finally post links without having to quote other users or exceed a certain character limit. Many of my posts were downvoted to oblivion by bots even though they were well sourced often to official sites or journal articles. And even recently, all the links I've sourced are directly relevant to topics and try to be helpful.

For reference, I was +200 at my highest before the negrep bots took me down to -500. If I could still link properly, I wouldn't care about my rep. It also makes zero sense how new spambot accounts are allowed to link to some scam websites immediately whereas I can't link to sources despite being a legitimate customer and active contributor of this forum.

I've messaged Clownski a while ago, but I've yet to hear an answer. Thanks in advance.

We will use the old ways. Here, have a +1.

And that was your first mistake. You think the staff have access to actual administrative magic? Heh, here. Have a +1. 🤣

Thank you both, +1 back.

Might have to wait for the next forum revamp to finally get my linking privileges restored. Hopefully this'll happen before 2030.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: This needs further explanation than is given in the OP as it is currently written.

idbeholdME: I have no idea about the specifics. Just noticed a sizable bump in the forum rep number when I was adjuating something in the settings, whih I assume came from the downvote removal.
I am still far into the minus. The forum got so many bugs, it could be possible it is was working toward your favor.

Well, i am not here because of the totally broken forum, just because of the users.

idbeholdME: ..you can only see your rep in the forum settings now,..
hah, learned something new today.

mine; ==> Earned reputation: -21 point

i truly don't give a flying shit. i post links just fine via adding spaces and always will.

NOW HEAR THIS...
___ NOW HEAR THIS...
_________ NOW HEAR THIS...

I KNOW FOR A FACT GOG ARE KEEPING ME IN THE NEGATIVE DELIBERATELY, HOPING I WILL MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT SO THEY CAN "RECLAIM" THIS ONE. NEVER GOANNA HAPPEN. I PICKED THIS NAME AT YEAR ZERO, AND YES, ITS SPECIAL AND ALL THAT. AND IT'S MINE.

laugh and giggle my little snitches*, all you want, i know the truth. plus, if i go by your words, gog should have reset every negative user's rep to 0 (start fresh) or +xx some months back when they "finally" disabled (partially) the moronic, idiotic, putrid, imbecilic forum "rep" scumbag system.

..anyway, so, yeah, today i learned (as if it matters any) that you can see your TRASH "rep" in forum settings screen. okey dokey.

god of war, when? (..and of course, i have it on steam, but...)

You're close to being able to post links. IIRC, you need +5. So here, have an upvote.

We could maybe use this thread as a negative rep redemption centre :P
Actually they hurt the community more than they do it on the users affected as, proper links simply are never possible; but so far i fail to see any other "gains".

While the feature has been removed from easy usage, alas bots can and still do downvote many of us.

Mods don't really seem to care and so rarely do anything about it. They have told me to ignore the downvotes, saying they don't impact anything. Clearly that is not the case when you get into the negatives, as you have indicated.

So have an upvote from me too.

A shame we don't have an Upvote Society to counteract these bots and childish folk.
Simply vote each others up, thats it. The "voting down" indeed was working like a sinking hole... and it continues to work... with hidden bots, weird enough.
