I know HereForTheBeer runs his own machanical doohickey business. I run a 15-room B&B. TinyE runs a B&B in the great american frozen north.

Who else around here makes do for themselves by working twice as hard and daily telling themselves, "Hey, at least I don't have a boss to answer to?"
I work twice as hard but it's worth it.

I'll take a hard fun job over a shit easy job any day.

I turned two rooms and fed four people Eggs Benedict before I ever logged in here this morning.

Though I admit the winter is somewhat slower than summer.

Adaliabooks has a food truck.

Beat me to it.

I've been self employed for just over four years now. It is hard work, and it can get a bit hairy sometimes when you're not sure if you're going to make enough to pay the bills, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
I'm not sure I could do an office job again after this...

Food trucks seem fascinating to me. May I ask what kind of food you sell?

aaaaaand this
I have owned my own business for over 35 years.
It's a rewarding, but tough way to make a living.

You are "on duty" 24/7.
It's hard to get away.
The internet has changed the way we have
done business.

You are responsible ALL the time,
especially if something goes wrong.
Employees can be a challenge.

Everyone tells you what to do:
Employees, customers, and the government

Being the Boss has it's perks, but do not let
anyone tell you it's a piece of cake.

Oops. Cut myself off.

That's why I play Gog Adventure games for my hobby.
The games can be taken anywhere I go, and require
no one to coordinate with to play.

I can play off-line in the middle of no-where and relax for a bit.

This. This is what I meant when I said I work hard.

I can't speak for Sam, because he may actually be a rocket scientist, but while what I do is not rocket science, it is 24/7.
I have it a little easier because I don't want to get away and I don't have a life, but it would still be nice to go one hour not having to constantly keep an ear out for one of a million things that could happen at any second.
Me. That's why I can camp out on video game sites all day long without getting fired.

We do wood fired pizza. It's a really fun job, I absolutely love it.
There's nothing better then when someone tells you they really enjoyed something you cooked :)
I run a webhosting company that caters to soccer moms. I own a share but am not the majority owner.
