I now own a Sega Saturn and it works. I tested it with the original original Tomb Raider and I've got a few more games on my To Buy list.

Since I can't take my Saturn places but I can my laptop, I may still use SSF to run my physical disks when my actual Saturn isn't available for using. Using the CD's in the CD drive is how SSF seems to work best with running them (I never got it to work properly using Daemon tools to mount images) so I would like to know how I actually get them running in SSF once the CD is actually in the drive?

My laptop specifically has a built-in DVD drive for this purpose, DVD drives working with CDs just fine. I just don't know how to get the games running once the emulator is set up and it would allow me to take screenshots more easily than getting a camera out on my physical machine.

Good luck, you'll need it.

You could try the Mednafen core in Retroarch (or others, if they exist) buuuut to put it nicely, emulation efforts of the Saturn aren't very good because nobody wants to deal with the ramshackle that was the Sega Saturn codebase and hardware.
I tried SSF briefly once and got no particular problem with it.
Go to the option menu, select option, then in CD Drive, select your DVD drive. It should work in theory.
If not, restart SSF while the CD is still in the drive.

Otherwise, you may try Kronos or YabaSanshiro as alternative emulators.
