... what's wrong with the original? :/ Does Bastila have more sassy comebacks with ray tracing added?

Things like lag in some more open areas(like Dantooine) even on some of the more modern systems, lack of certain features in the second game(like with the crafting bench) as opposed to the first, etc.

Well the game is missing a junk customizer in the character creation menus ;D

Hardly worth a remake, if you ask me. A mod, sure.

IIRC I was facing a slide show last I fought the Krayt dragon on a GTX 1080... so there certainly are a few limitation of the engine, but apart from Dantooine's wide open spaces it's pretty smooth.

Idea: t'would be nice if they made it and released it free(or at large discount) for those who own the originals ;)
(like other IP holders did recently with Quake 2, etc)

Yeah, it's usually pretty smooth. Still, that stuttering when trying to get through those areas can be quite....*waves hand*....disturbing

-----

More things: get rid of the lag when opening the menus on some systems, polish up/add in the unfinished game content(so one doesn't need to mod it in), maybe add some more "set-pieces"(background stuff on walls, furniture, etc) in some of the more bland/empty areas...

The original game is still playable so it's not a big loss for PC gamers, but for consoles and for those who play only next gen games it's probably a bad new if they were waiting for this remake to finaly play the game

mistycoven: That's a pity. I'm not a Star Wars guy, I've never seen any of the movies, but I found the game quite enjoyable as an RPG.
Yeah and I've never heard a Beatles or Elvis song. But I like their movies though.

that analog is rather silly, and does not work.

In all Elvis or Beatles films there are songs from the artists, so if you have seen the films you have also heard some of their songs. Those films are also vehicles for the artists, primarily as musical artists.

However, there are no Star Wars films in the games, and most games also are stand-alnoe and do not need any other knowledge of the Star Wars universe to like the games. Same as you can enjoy the Star Wars books withut playing the games.

I had the sound muted during the songs while watching those movies so I didn't hear any songs.

For consoles gamers - isn't KOTOR 1 and 2 on the Switch, though?

But, yeah - PC version's fine and can be modded; I wonder if it works on Steam Deck. It's on GOG and Steam, so we're all set here.

Too bad there don't seem to be many (or any) other cinematic turn-based combat games around. I guess all true gamers hate this sort of thing. Not that I needed those videos and articles to tell me that, but "remaking for a modern audience" almost always means "make it more twitchy". I already thought a nearly perfect game was diminished mainly by the racing and shooting action minigames, but they apparently wanted to jazz it up a notch. Not that making a different kind of game ruins the originals, but it does discourage anyone from making a proper successor. Much like my thoughts on Fallout 3, actually. Except that I actually liked the Fallout universe before 3, whereas my feelings for Star Wars is neutral (typical fantasy, not sci-fi) to low (magical force that dictates morality). Too bad Jade Empire couldn't have been more like KOTOR combat-wise. Nice game without the Star Wars baggage.

In short, good riddance. Not that Aspyr would've released anything on gog, anyway.
