I would love to see some silent hill games on here
Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 have seen a PC release but I doubt that we will see a re-release ever.

At any case, does Konami still hold the license? I sincerly doubt that they ever bring their games on GOG. Silent Hill 1, 2, 3 and 4 haven't even appeared on Steam as re-releases yet, desprite the fact that many people would react positively and I also doubt that Konami will ever act.

EDIT: Fixed a few things.

Which is sad, because these games need a re-release that wasn't botched.

Konami will likely hold the IP until the end of time. Even if they don't license it out again and see another P.T.-style cancellation flop, they can continue using it to crank out crap for pachinko parlors until someone "cures" people of gambling addiction.

That being said, they are starting to (slowly) make moves toward trying to cash in on the re-release boom that their competition has already reaped the benefits of. Not that such a thing is any indicator toward them ever cobbling together another Silent Hill collection (that hopefully ends up better than the last one did) but who knows what the future may bring with them anymore.
Konami recently renewed the SH trademark. Hope that means something is coming.

SH1 never had a PC port. They still hold the license, but there may be some problems because they had to rerecord the dialogue for the "HD" console version (that turned out horrible by the way).
Homecoming is available on Steam at least, but that's not really considered a good game.

Probably needed to keep selling the games that are already out and possibly a new pachinko game.

Silent Hill 1 never had a HD console version. It was only ever released on PS1.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is just a re imagination of the first game. But its not the first game as alot of things were removed, changed or added, as well as characters had their roles and personalities changed and new ones were added. This version was only ever released on the PS2, Wii & PSP.

I know, I was answering the part of the question regarding rights to the franchise as a whole. Sorry for not making it clear.

No problem. Just thought i'd comment on it, in case anyone else thought hold up they did a HD remaster of SH1?

Its a shame they didn't to be honest. It would be good to get a HD re-master of them all for modern systems. So long as they don't butcher it like they did with the PS3/Xbox 360 collection.

Yes I know, which is why I wrote "re-release". They should have the capabilities to recompile the first Silent Hill game to make the game run for PC. Lets hope we also see a Silent Hill 1 release for PC at some point.

Would it have the same atmosphere? Are the less than perfect graphics part of it's charm? I would like to have a version I could play without geting my PS1 out of the loft though!

That's a good point. Its like Alien Breed 3D for the Amiga. Part of that atmosphere, is pink dots (due to distance) coming at you. Thinking about it I think I would be happier if they just ported SH1 graphics and all to PC, then just released the whole lot here.

You could always emulate it on your PC. PS1 emulators will work with the original PS1 CD, or you can grab and ISO online.

I'd love that! Perhaps they could do a Monkey Island style choose between original graphics or new (so long as new Harry doesn't look as stupid as new Guybrush).

I keep meaning to get into emulation but never seem to get around to it, perhaps I should have another look.

Eh. Japan is cracking down on Pachinko regulation. Konami is trying to get back into actual video games again.
I can confirm silent hill 5 sucks bad!
