I've never eaten rabbits/hares. What does it taste like? Is it similar to another type of more mainstream meat?

Many people wouold probably say that it is. If not prepared properly, it can be quite stringy and tough. But it's tasty. Not really like chicken, but hard to really say exactly what it compares to other than poultry.

You start with a big pot on a fire, put in the Guineafowl and weigh it down with a brick. Then you add water, spices and close the lid. After about 30 minutes you take the pot off the fire, pour out the water, throw away the Guineafowl and eat the brick.
The joke is it's really difficult to prepare so that it isn't tough and stringy. Apparently one way to do it right is to cook it in yogurt.
Just be sure not to tell them that ;)

But yeah, I haven't ever tried it myself so I don't know for certain. I suppose that it's not outside the realm of possibility that they differ somewhat depending on their country of origin due to diet or whatever. Most here are completely wild and live in the bush, and are pretty much everywhere.
