Since 2011 Söldner: Secret Wars Communty Edition is 100% Free
You can download the game on the official site
However any online game needs players to live and continue to live, this Community Edition is not available on GOG or even Steam, so the latter has trouble making itself known, Yet there have been peaks in attendance in recent years, but after a server / forum failure that lasted several months, the number of players has dropped drastically as well as the number of new players. This is why I allow myself here as elsewhere (itch.io, gamejolt, moddb ...) to let you know its existence as well as its free.
If you like retro games this one I think, can only please you, especially since it is playable online which is not necessarily always the case. In a word, or rather a sentence to summarize it, mix S.O.C.O.M with Arma, add a little GI-Joe / Fun, and you get Söldner, at least that's how I see it.
The quick story of the Game:
First of all the game was developed by "Wings Simulations" who before that had made the game "Panzer Elite", so it was only their second project.
For financial reasons its release was rushed by the publisher "JoWooD", so there were bugs, especially in solo, and precisely since online gaming or even the internet were not yet widespread, the fixes arrived after the tests of video game testers.
But now in 2022 the game has almost no bugs, you can also create your own servers and add mods to them and on top of that I myself created a DirextX patch to make it a graphical upgrade (on Moddb)
