found myself on a wild goose chase this morning, that ended with downloading armies of exigo. turned out to be exactly what i was looking for.... which is also nice for a change. To find what you are looking for.

imagine multiple tabs opened. RTS and Strategy games sorted out by year of release, the high fantasy moniker and RPG mechanics and still there is 1 silly sci fi titles that manage to evade all explanation and manages to highlight itself.
okay you think, i already finished my search, what was this about you ask yourself since somewhere the title seems vaguely familiar. you follow a link to some web address allowing to play older games online and boom
there is it. that silly game you probably played for a couple of hundreds of hours, or at least dozens......

like .. cmon GoG .. that has to count for something ?!?!

i don't mind having to resor to abandonware sites but, i don't know. i guess it still feels a bit silly to enter these gray sided parts of the internet...
