Has anyone been able to get either of these games to work on Windows 11? I was thrilled when it was finally offered by GOG and bought both games immediately. Probably would have hesitated if 11 hadn't been specifically advertised among the systems it would work on. The download is fine, and the audio sounds right, but the beginning screens do not display properly. I get a small section of the main menu, what I think would have been the upper left-hand quarter of a lower resolution display. I have no idea whether the gameplay works, because not enough of the 'buttons' can be seen to start a game.

I tried playing around with compatibility settings but it didn't change anything. And any sort of official help seems nonexistent; I just get rerouted to the stupid "help" chat box.

Also: this is my first forum post, so I apologize in advance if I've left anything out. Please help?

See if either of the following posts help:
Games loads but only shows partial screen
Blackscreen at start

If not, check the main forum for the game series:

As for the support chatbot, it's supposed to ask for your e-mail address if you repeatedly say it wasn't helpful after several suggestions. Bear in mind getting a response from support can take weeks, which would exceed the 30 days you have to ask for a refund.

Thank you for replying. I checked out those links and tried adjusting the DirectX settings accordingly. Setting it to 800 by 600 resolution in full screen mode -kind of- helps. I can see most of the start menu even if it's slightly off center. The cinematics look awful but I don't care about those. But, when the actual gameplay starts, it's so zoomed in that you can't actually play the game effectively.

I didn't know about the email thing from the chatbox, but that's good to know. I'll try getting a response from Support, but probably will end up getting a refund. So disappointing. I thought the whole point of GOG was to make older games playable on newer systems. If they don't work as advertised, why even offer them?
I don't personally have any interest in those games so can't test it myself, but it does sound like a scaling issue. Have you tried any of the following?

A. Setting your graphics card GPU scaling
https://thegamingexperts.com/what-is-gpu-scaling/

B. Changing the game's shortcut High DPI Settings (As found in the compatibility tab)

C. I read that the game includes GOG's own Dx wrapper, you could always try another wrapper like dgVoodoo2 and see if you get better results.
https://github.com/dege-diosg/dgVoodoo2/releases
*Note: For dgvoodoo2 copy the 3 main files from .zip to the game folder as well as the files from the .zip's \MS\x86 to the game folder. Then run the dgVoodooCpl.exe. I'd recommend playing with the scaling settings, resolution (Direct X tab) and the output API.

D. This post had some interesting details,

The game seems to work when running it from command line using the flag no intro see below.

armada2.exe -nointro

I'm suddenly reminded of a game that was suppose to be 'ready to play' with dosbox settings, but the audio settings were messed up, thus when the intro ended it would crash back to the prompt.

Though Armada 1+2 seem to be windows 95/98, so this doesn't help any.
