Yep, still bored. I checked I couldn't find any threads like this.

Do you prefer the Federation or the Republic?

Light Sabers or Phasers?

Droids or Androids?

Jedi or Captain?

Submit your allegiance here. Personal preference is fine, you can go as deep or casual as you like. May the force be with you, and Engage!

<Member of the Federation of Planets here no doubt.

Why not both. Actually I like parts of the SW lore and parts of the ST lore.
I mean, light sabers though completely out of touch with reality, are cool and bring a medieval feel into science fiction.
I love Star Wars but I get a bit tired of the silly childishness of the whole thing. That and Trekkies are generally more fun to talk to. They at least obsess about real characters and not that one guy in the background.
I guess it's one-sided for me, but since I have never watched anything regarding Star Trek, it's an automatic victory for Star Wars.
Are you talking about military or technological strength, or just personal preference?

While I still like the idealism behind the idea of the Federation, the Republic seems to me a more realistic depiction of what an interplanetary coalition of alien races would look like.

Are you talking about the goody goody federation or the corrupt racist government that gets used in back stories a lot?
Star Trek, all the way! (Seven is still the best character I've ever seen).
I prefer a necklace of Stephen Hawking's rotten teeth.
This is like comparing apples to oranges. XD

I love them both but seriously, you couldn't have a more illogical thread if you'd named it, "The Exorcist or Terms of Endearment". :P
Star Trek, I never really understood the popularity of Star Wars, philistine that I am :)
Why not Trek Wars?

A Redshirt and a Stormtrooper get into a firefight.
The Stormtrooper misses every shot.
The Redshirt dies anyway.

Don't vote with your libido :o)

OP: Both of them. They are good in different ways. I find your question illogical, and your faith in your friends your weakness!
I am a Trek man myself.

When it comes to Star Wars, I don't like the bits that involve the Force. My first and best impressions of Star Wars stemmed from Dark Forces and TIE Fighter, which shaped my opinion of the franchise. On the other hand, Star Trek's The Motion Picture and 25th Anniversary were what informed me what Star Trek was all about. After the dust had settled, I found that it was Star Trek that captured my imagination, not Star Wars.

The Motion Picture > A New Hope.
Lord of The Rings.
