BranjoHello: I guess they have some kind of advertising deal with the publisher.
To tell you the truth I don't really care, the important part is that it's FREE and LEGAL. ;)
How sure are you that the page is legal? It seems very fishy to me (free Mario and Sonic games? yeah, right). Also Sudden Strike 2's download size seems suspiciously small, like it's a ripped version or something. Heck, even the site's name and logo are weird, being an obvious pun on GameStop.

Also the lack of any information about the game's owner (or whoever submitted it), its wrong category (action?) etc. all make it seem unauthorized.

wolfsrain: I prefer the Blitzkrieg series over Sudden Strike. Still, those would be a nice addition to any wargamer library.
Why?

monkeydelarge: Why?
Why i prefer Blitzkrieg or why Sudden Strike are a nice addition to an wargamer's library?!

For the first question: veterancy for tanks, artillery and tank destroyers. You can have a core army that carries over from one mission to another. Rewards for completing a mission by doing everything that you can do in that mission (secondary and tertiary objectives - might be surprised by getting an extra core unit or even better a prototype unit). Relatively dynamic campaign (you get to choose your mission from a pool of 3 missions).

Why SS it's still a nice addition?! Because the enormous battles that the series is throwing at you. It also has a ton of historical units. The bugs at launch and the atrocious pathfinding are the things that put me off back then. Came back after Fireglow solved some of the problems.

Hope this answers your question(s).

In my experience, there is no such thing as a free lunch and considering they claim there is no malware, in-game ads or browser toolbars, it makes you wonder what exactly their angle is.
Very interesting indeed, but I think I'll wait until (if?) it comes to gog.

I've enough games as it is to keep me occupied for months to come, so I'm not tempted to buy from another site.

fronzelneekburm: So, does that mean that DOTEMU hasn't released any new games since July 2014? Their front page is still all Sudden Strike. Kinda sad, I only registered there about two months ago because I wanted Aliens VS Predator. Didn't expect it so show up here any time soon...
Well, I think they realized that Gog was ahead of them in almost every aspect, so they have two types of releases:
- games you won't find anywhere else (ie: Sudden Strike, and previously Vampires - Bloodlines)
- ports to other systems (Android & iOS for LBA and The Last Express)

Kinda sad how DotEmu have stalled since then. I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly disappeared without a word of warning, the way things are going. I hope they catch a break. If nothing else, GOG needs competition and right now DotEmu certainly aren't providing it.

In my opinion gog already has enough competition with steam and all their old school game releases they've had in the last couple of years. Is there really a big enough piece of pie in the drm free community for more than one digital store to prosper?

I would be SUPER excited to see the Sudden Strike series here. I'd rather see that on Tuesday then any lucas arts release to be honest.

Thanks for answering my question. I asked because I wanted to know if the Sudden Strike games are worth getting if you already have the Blitzkrieg games.

I agree, it would be sad to see DotEmu go. Especially since they have several games which are not available on GOG and probably never will be.

Some google-fu on this Gametop-version, it is legit but crippled, missing multiplayer-maps (and probably overall multiplayer-ability?), and it "links" (probably open browser?) to Gametop-site when it's quitted.

Info found from German Sudden Strike forum over here.

Missing multiplayer -info mentioned: Sudden Strike 2 (German wikipedia)
This is an interesting game. I haven't noticed it until now.
I don't mind the missing multiplayer. I'm waiting for sales!

They're focusing a lot of their skills on pc ports, such as FFVII and VIII, Metal Slug, etc.
Yep, I also have some cool games there and used to love their service, but it's a shame seeing them this way.
Their website looks completely abandoned.
With expertise like DotEmu has, people like 'em should bring us more emulated goodness, in my opinion.

I remember reading a 2-years-old thread where they said that they were still working on implementing a gift system. No dice yet.

That's sad.
A complete no-brainer, at least for me, would be delivering their android/iOS games on the pc.
And that didn't happen too.
