While I've always appreciated the option to wishlist games I would like to see release on GOG it got me thinking. I feel it would get better attention for new people if it was not hidden in a submenu of the GOG.COM home page. It can kinda be abused too easily because it's just a simple "+" icon so it feels kinda pointless in the effort of getting actual attention - not to mention the slew of duplicate entries like " x series" or "x complete anthology" & what-have-yous.

I was thinking maybe if this were linked to developers / publishers so they can easily access this list (maybe even more awareness through a steam group or even social media?) it would serve better. Pretty sure a lot of people on social media don't even know this Community Wishlist exists tbh. Publishers have their own Steam pages so I'm sure this could come in handy for them too? I just don't think there's anything else functionally this serves but to look at an endless list to admire it I guess. Thoughts on this?

I'm sure GOG uses the wishlist (more likely if there are lot of votes than little) as a minor tool/negotiating angle to try to convince publishers to release their games here; the main issue for the wishes most high on the wishlist (besides apathetic publishers) is usually messy legal situations, and any number of votes won't change that if publishers don't care to try to work through the legal issues. The simplicity of just having to click the '+' icon to vote is actually a good thing imo, and one of the reasons I don't mind shilling for the wishlist on place like Reddit; you already have to spend time creating a GOG account. I get the problem with the duplicate entries and whatnot; managing the wishlist is obviously a very low priority for GOG, especially while Support is so busy, but it doesn't bother me as much as it really bothers other people. The whole site has numerous issues but I'm not going to get worked up over it.

My suggestion would be, if you or anyone tries to contact publishers about releases here, include the wishlist link(s) if there are a high number of votes (especially if there are thousands).
It wouldn't make any difference.

If publishers wants to release a game on GOG, they will (presuming GOG doesn't reject it for [bad] curation and/or political reasons, which often happens).

The publisher's decision is not going to be swayed one way or the other based on having seen a "community wishlist."
