Croatia is an incredibly sporty nation. We celebrate each and every success of our sportsmen. Football, basketball, handball, waterpolo, athletics, rowing, tennis, skiing, swimming.
This is our greatest achievement in international football. Before this, our only title was 3rd place in the 1998 World Cup.
On this page, you can see the ways we greeted our sports heroes, in the following order:
- football - 1998 generation, 3rd place in the World Cup
- tennis - Goran Ivanišević in 2001, after winning Wimbledon
- handball - 1996 generation, 1st place in the Olympics
- skiing - Janica Kostelić in 2002, after winning 4 medals (3 gold and 1 silver) in the Olympics
- handball - 2003 generation, 1st place in the World Cup
We value people who put maximum effort in their sports appearances.

Congrats France. Hard luck Croatia; great job anyway.
Also, thanks for all the discussions in this thread. Was interesting as always.

I assume they used the same system as for the tiebreaker:
Yellow = 1 point
Red (for two yellows) = 3 points
Straight red = 4 points
Straight red + Yellow = 5 points

think of american football on a global level, where nations compete, and every 60-70 years u get a very small nation reaching the finals
