It's a little bit irritating when certain games newly offered on GOG don't work perfectly out of the box.
Particularly when the games previously fell into grey abandonware territory.
On the flip side GOG do fix quite a bit where they can i.e. Dungeon Keeper 2, Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight.
I recommend checking the subforum for each game!
W40K Chaos Gate didn't display properly last time I tried it without some ddraw wrappers:

Cossacks 2 is probably the worst offender I've seen offered here.
A horribly broken mess with C/C++ array errors, FM Manager memory crashes, unplayable slowdown etc.
Probably shouldn't even be sold; shame too as there's a great game in there somewhere. (ignoring the terribad voiceover and numerous spelling errors)
Syndicate Wars, Desperados & Legacy of Kain aren't all that great either. I'd recommend emulating the Dreamcast version of the latter through RetroArch or equivalent.
I think Total Annhilation can be a bit ropey at least with the unofficial patch applied
And Age of Wonders/2/Shadow Magic have the odd issue as well :'(
The DOSBOX stuff is usually sound but it'll only get worse for those early DirectX games as Windows keeps changing and the source code for these old games isn't released.
There's the odd remaster and many thanks to the clever people who've brought us great projects like openXCOM and CorsixTH (Theme Hospital)
The most stupid thing GOG ever did was splitting the Heroes Chronicles installer up into segments and greatly bloating the size for literally no gain!
