foxworks: Interesting. Your avatar thumbnail looks like a cat with a very large wig. ;-p

Lin545: Or a cat-hat. All the cats that have befriended me, including my current master allowed it if you are nice to them.
1. Take a cat
2. Be nice to it
OR IT WILL SCRATCH YOUR EYEBALLS OUT!
3. Put in on your head carefully, with belly below, over your head.
...
5 Profit!

PS
Be nice to your master, OR IT WILL SCRATCH YOUR EYEBALLS OUT! :)

PS. We are still on-topic, since its about aliens!
I guess the missing stage is
4. Get every shred of skin flayed from your scalp when the cat panicks and decides it wants to get off its perch.
At least it would be my case if I tried this stunt on my Exalted Almighty Overlord, aka "Fripon"

fables22: We don't generally do newsposts for game removals, unless it's a very big game.

EDIT: But we do always try and give people on the forums as much of a heads up as we can.

Painted_Doll: But not everyone read the forums .
Indeed, I just missed this as I only routinely check the "What Did Just Update?" thread in the general forum. :(

Not everyone reads the forums, yes, but not everyone routinely checks the website either. It's a tough call but where exactly it gets published isn't necessarily my gig, sorry :(

OK, but why not (I ask again) not make these announcement at least show up with a blue dot in front?
Now it seems like you're trying to hide it.
Which is understandable.

Nah, not trying to hide it - hence why we do always try to let people know in advance. I'm not sure why it doesn't come up with a blue dot, perhaps because it's not set up as news - I can investigate here, but it's not a setting I can change myself, it would need an admin intervention. Other than that, in all honesty, I think with most removals, we do reach a fair amount of users, and we've not recently, at least in my time here, had any huge issues around game removals. Plus, unless things get sent out as newsletters, we'd never really reach absolutely everyone.

Well I unsubscribed from those years ago because they always came two weeks late, so that wouldn't be everyone either.
Hmm, Batcat, or Catman. Or Catbatman. I should probably try this, since mine is rather black. I just need to find someone to take a picture.

I would guess that they work a bit better now than they did years ago :) But I understand your point and will let bizdev and product know for future reference. Thanks!

Even not all the subscribers receive the newsletter (filed a support ticket about that in December).

I'd rather see it in on the GOG homepage in the headlines section, a place that is visible to anyone who visits the site without having to go searching the forums. Those headlines also seem to correspond to the blue dot forum entries. Or for an email to be sent to all GOG.com users, again something that has been done before as I recall having received a couple of emails regarding the removal of games, but that was quite some time ago now.

Now whilst it may not be your personal decision as to where the notifications get published, you are the GOG staff member who broke the news, so I'm just providing my feedback on how this was done in this instance. Hopefully you can forward on the feedback to the relevant GOG staff member(s) for future consideration.

All in all, I find GOG to be a very good digital game distribution site (and as you can see I've been here for quite some time, and used to be very active within the forums, though less so more recently), but there are a few occasions where things don't go so well and there are a couple of cases that I'm aware of where an issue doesn't get resolved even though it should be really easy to do so (in one such case GOG staff said they were working on it, but then it all went quiet and something like 2 years later it is still outstanding). I provide my feedback in the hope that it will help GOG to continue to improve.

Maybe it's better to have one forum topic in which you could make such announcements, and everyone who is interested could add a topic in favorites?

Seconded.

Such a simple idea.

GOG rarely announces returns before they return, i.e when Descent came back, you have to just keep your eyes peeled on the news.
