I'm having issues with Witcher 3 (won't go into detail, as that's in another thread), but one suggested resolution is to address a Galaxy.dll error which supposedly could cause the crashes. So step one of the fix is to uninstall GOG Galaxy Client.

My question is, if I do this, will all of my stats and accomplishments be reset or is that saved regardless if I uninstall/reinstall? I would think the latter, but just want to be sure because I don't have high hopes this will even fix my issue since it is fix #427 that I'm trying (very frustrated, sorry).

Anyway, just don't want to screw more things up if I can avoid it.

Thanks.

Your achievements and time played should be stored on GOG's server. Just remember to back up your save game if you uninstall the game.

I don't plan to uninstall the game, only the Galaxy Client. Will that uninstall the game? I would assume you have to separately uninstall the game, but just wanting to be sure. I will back up my saves regardless though...

stacycmc: Thanks.
Actually uninstalling Galaxy and re-installing it (with preview updates (that have some issues, granted)) fixed my game time tracking. The time was actually fixed (from 190h to 260h). Achievements all stay.

No. The games work independently of Galaxy. You can always start them from start menu or desktop or often by simply starting the exe from the folder. You can also use Windows (Software in control panel or start menu link to un-install games) at any time, regardless if they were installed with Galaxy or not.
If you re-install Galaxy it should auto-import the games (may take a while).
There has been a bug in that past that games installed in the Galaxy folder (who does that?!) were removed (since the folder was simply deleted) but that has been fixed long ago.

Last time I uninstalled galaxy (and installed it again) it couldn't restore the W3 that was on hdd... Galaxy just wanted to install it again no matter what (on the same files that was already there), but it was a few months ago so maybe some bug. Just saying...

But stats should be fine. :P

Ok, awesome. Thanks All for your help... will see if playing the game entirely without galaxy allows me to play without crashing and if not, if a new install of it all (game AND galaxy) will do the trick.

Thanks again though, my stats (as poor as they are) is one less item to stress about. :)
Somewhat off-topic, but how were you able to mark two posts as the solution?

I believe it's just a bug. I think Tom's post was marked as solution but the second post shows the banner too (similar to how it also shows the banner an unanswered question has under it too)
