I never understand D&D, or mage in general even harry potter fails to deliver

In my viewpoint i don't understand why a mage, sorcerer, bloodmage, etc use any kind of weapon
it makes absolute no sense the magic flows or is directly link to the wielder any weapon do not add anything to it's amplifier.

Now to games,
they should just use rings (doll items) to add stats towards the player
but not give the appearance that the player carry any weapons.

more or less agree with the general sentiment of mind over manner, that said, a smart mage does not rely on his or her power alone, In the words of Zethicus Zethander the Wise : " If you only can do it with magic, you are doing it wrongly "

exactly , a smart mage would use anything to solve the problem , it doesnt have to be magic
