Which games are keeping you company this weekend?

It's a bit unfair to other games that right now No Man's Sky is dominating all the online and watercooler discussions, isn't it? But there's so much stuff to talk about in there! While we're on the subject, though, what's your favorite space-themed game ever? Is it No Man's Sky? A roguelike? Perhaps a 4X strategy. Or a simulator. Whatever it is, let's talk about it!

How does your gaming weekend look, by the way? Go on, share your Weekend Playlist with us. It can include single-player games, multiplayer games, console exclusives, anything - we are not judging. In fact, we are sharing too!

Looking for some additional inspiration? The GOG.com releases of the week might help:

- You can design and ride your own Bounty Train through the unforgiving Old West.
- You can expand your Ashes of the Singularity tactics in the new maps included in the Oblivion DLC.
- You can go back to your RTS roots and let the four alien races duke it out in War Wind and War Wind II.
- You can show the Olympian gods who's boss by stomping on their arrogant heads with your angry Okhlos.
- You can venture into the heavy-metal lands of legend and shred some demons in the re-launched Slain: Back From Hell.

So, GOGasaurs, what are you playing this weekend?

itchy01ca01: Now THIS will piss those with delusions of NMS being anything but a total disaster fest.
I tried NMS out, got bored of it and got a refund. Screw them, and screw their dev. At least I know which dev NOT to buy from :)

Ill be playing Empyrion:Galactic Survival (The NMS that SHOULD have been). IF you're tired of the games media and other sites lying to you about how awesome NMS is, check this game out. It IS far more awesome than NMS. It HAS the crafting, it HAS the proper solar systems, it HAS intelligent aliens that LOOK proper, it HAS the stuff that NMS wishes it does.

So if you're bored as hell, try that game out and give THOSE devs the money they justly deserve, not these NMS asshats.

MaceyNeil: Sounds really good, but no info on DRM on their website apart from steam based alpha.
I'm also not a fan of the build your ship i can see that being a time detraction like it was in star ruler (took too much time tinkering around, not enough time actually playing the game).
The graphics are also only average.
Yea steam only for now.
But they also use a "blueprint" type system to build, so you don't necessarily have to design your own ships. They have pre-set ones you can craft mats for and so you don't really have to worry about mucking things up.
The modding community is also huge in the game.
It'll take awhile to figure some of the glitches out, but for me they aren't game-breaking, and they are constantly updating (every 2 weeks, at least, with hot-fixes for those patches that have problems).
It's just something better then that tech demo NMS.

>Looks at all the threads about No Man's Sky being broken like Batman's back in 1993'<

>Looks back at this OP<

Good one, GOG.

RogueXanter: This weekend Sengoku and Eye of the Beholder II on my laptop, Mass Effect 3 and maybe some Final Fantasy IX on my PS3. Probably a little Homefront Revolution on my PS4 and Earthbound on my N3DS

Favorite space game is tough since space is my favorite game setting. Tere are so many great ones but I'm going to have to go with tar Trek Bridge Commander. I like starfighter sims but I've always preferred the idea of space capital ship command sims and Bridge Commander is the best I have played.

haydenaurion: You're speaking my language with the bolded.
Yeah I never actually beat Eye of the Beholder II or played III (Back then I didn't have a PC at home just played games on Dad's best friend's PC) so when I grabbed it during the summer sale I started the original.) Sengoku I grabbed this week because it sounds a lot like a modern Sword of the Samurai, which I like a lot, and Earthbound well I basically traded in my 3DS to buy an N3DS as soon as I heard it was coming to the N3DS shop.
Well this week I have been switching between watching anime (backlog), recovering lost data (the WD 4GB holding part of my anime collection crashed, recovered 58%) and playing ME3 with the MEHEM Mod.

This WE will be a continuation of the week with some variation, like the pre-load of “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” (unlock 23/08) and rewatching an old series “Hyper Police”
Turrican emulated because there is no legal way to play it anymore without spending way too much money on outdated hardware.

I was in the same boat when I owned the SNES version of Eye of the Beholder 1 back in the day. I got to the end and couldn't figure out how to get further, it was only when I got the gog DOS release that I finally beat it for the first time.
Lost Planet.

I played a demo 9 years ago and liked it a lot, so yesterday I thought it was about time to play the whole game!

narb79: How is Xenonauts? on fence a few times picking that up.

Favorite Space Game and currently playing : Star Wars : Rebellion get past interface and there is a deep game there.
Open-Xcom and maybe some Master of Magic
avatar
IwubCheeze: This is just me but I really like it. I was on the fence too considering some of the reviews but I wasn't disappointed when I did pick it up. I actually prefer playing Xenonauts to X-COM:EU coming to think of it. FYI though, for me, Xenonauts can be a little buggy but it's still an excellent game

Star Wars : Rebellion is on my backlog. It got some pretty harsh reviews back in the day so I haven't been in a hurry to play it. Care to share you're thoughts on it?
I think that will depend if you can deal with a very dated and horrid interface, thats the bad. Very Simliar to the new boardgame that came out. You can send characters on various missions, build up fleet, troops etc. I like it to me it just oozes Starwars. Warning: The Graphics are DATED. I wish they would do a remake of this game.

Ahh Rebellion my all time Favorite Star Wars game. It opened a GOG account as soon as I found out they had Rebellion and it was obviously the first GOG game I ever purchased. I do agree with narb's points though.

On a side note there has been a change in my weekend gaming plans, My best friend bought No Man's Sky for PS4 then discovered he didn't like it so he let me have it dirt cheap.
Actually, I am not a big fan of space games, so I don't have any favourite.

As for my playlist of this weekend, I play the campaign of Dungeons 2: Tale of Winter. I don't remember when was the last time I laughed so much just at the beginning of a game. Apart from that one, I play Grim Dawn. Currently, my character is a Level 7 Fighter. In my opinion, you can clearly see that the game is made by the same people who made Titan Quest.

Best Space game: Freelancer.

Because of this kind of soundtrack ====> 1: Epic Battle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o36TtNZO5Y0
====> 2: Battle (Custom Version): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNaCDyEWdXY

Best Sci-Fy Shooter: PREY

Still one of the best story driven shooter i've ever played with Rage.

PREY Overture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Skj7i3CRt10

Can't wait to see these games on Gog.

N.B: Prey reminds me another great saga: Turok. Which sequel was an horrible mess...
Prey is for me a decent successor of Turok.
I'm playing Alphadia Genesis. It's been a while since i played a JRPG and this one is fun to play.
My favourite space themed games is Descent.

SW Battlefront II is pretty cool too though and I'm also enjoying Anachronox.
Finished Beyond Divinity some time ago, some ideas were weird, like skill crafting.
But the fact that magic is useless and 3/4 of skills useless, weak or bad....golly gosh.

Now playing The Witcher 3, basic game. Bought the game two weeks before GoTY edition was announced. Say about bad luck.
Still wondering how to get expansions. If box have similar content - then might get it online. But want to deal with other games before 2nd (and full) playthrough...

Still looking for free time for Fallout 1.5 Resurrection.
Also - reinstalled Path of Exile. I can make decent builds but reading others builds designed for higher difficulties is mindblowing.
For some reason game run fine but when it start - HDD start chewing loud. Yes I know SSD is a thing but that's for later.
