Heart of Darkness
Another World 2 - Éric Chahi wasn't involved in Heart Of An Alien and has disavowed it. Now that he owns the IP, I'd like to see what he'd do with a sequel.
Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night 2 - If Koji Igarashi returned to the franchise to make a sequel to the original.
Cave Story 2
Chrono Trigger 2 - The Dream Team reassembles to make a direct sequel to the original game.
Donkey Kong Country 6
Full Throttle 2
Hades II: Mount Olympus - Zagreus must take down the Olympians.
Half-Life 3
Hollow Knight: Silksong
La-Mulana 3
Max Payne 4 - Especially if Remedy Entertainment returns to work with Rockstar Games.
Metroid 6
Metroid Prime 4
Portal 3
Super Mario Bros. 4
Super Mario World 3
Windjammers 2

Eh, no questions asked? None. Price will always be a factor, as will system requirements etc.

Frankly, I can't think of anything in this day and age that I would still get truly excited about. We already had a new Tim Schafer adventure, a new Torment, Chris Avellone witing for another RPG, and it all was ... okayish? Certainly not the next big thing. (Psychonauts 2 might come close though, from what I hear.)

If anyone were ever to do something as bold and ambitious as Neverwinter Nights again, a game creating tool that's powerful and easy to use at the same time, that might pique my interest. But I'd still wait for reviews on whether it actually has potential or not. And it's extremely unlikely anway.

I rarely buy games on day 1, but it happens. The newest examples are Cyberpunk 2077 and Diablo 2 Resurrected. Next on my list is Baldur's Gate 3. I see no point in buying the Early Access version because I wouldn't play it anyway, but I'll gladly purchase the game on its release date. As for other titles, I'd definitely buy The Witcher 4, another Pillars of Eternity game (I'll probably buy Avowed), Fallout made by Obsidian and Disco Elysium 2 for sure. I'm also considering to buy STALKER 2 on the release date, but given the history of games from this franchise, it might have more quirks than CP2077 before all those patches.
Typically, for me to consider a day 1 full price (or close to it) purchase of a full price game, it must fit into one of these two categories:
* A SaGa-like (this includes actual SaGa games, with the exception of Final Fantasy Legend 3)
* A DRPG (though I may require it to allow character and party customization)

Interestingly, NISA has put one game of each category on GOG; The Alliance Alive (a SaGa-like, though it's structured more like a traditional JRPG, but it does have SaGa-like character growth), and Saviors of Sapphire Wings/Stranger of Sword City Revisited.

Edit: There is the requirement that the game must be DRM-free, and on a platform where DRM is not the norm (and, in particular, must not be on a platform that explicitly supports/encourages DRM).

Buried In Time: Chrono Trigger 2 - The Dream Team reassembles to make a direct sequel to the original game.
In a way, Chrono Cross *is* a sequel to Chrono Trigger, though one could say it takes place in a different dimension without contradicting anything in either game. (Perhaps you want a sequel that takes place in a dimension where Chrono Cross didn't happen?)

(Worth noting; the added content in Chrono Trigger DS does not contradict the idea of Chrono Cross taking place in a different dimension. Remember, to see the tie-in to Chrono Cross's plot, you have to go through an area called the Dimensional Vortex, and it's quite reasonable to conclude that, once you reach the other end, you aren't in the same dimension anymore.)

I would be less price sensitive and eager to buy these games:

Panzer General, Allied General, Panzer General III Scorched Earth;
Sea Rogue
Hammer of the Gods
Powermonger
Centurion Defender of Rome
Spirit of Excalibur, Vengeance of Excalibur;
Aces over the Pacific, Aces over Europe, Aces of the Deep;
DRM free Skyrim

need to add Freelancer

A true and high quality remake/sequel to Daggerfall
Bloodborne on PC
An isometric remake of Fallout 3 and New Vegas
A new turn-based rpg with excellent story and good not slow controls.
Just cloud talk kind of thing?

Dragon's Dogma 2: Like you said, I have feverishly wanted this game for a very long time and still look forward to it. Unfortunately, it may never happen and I am not entirely sure why.

Dragon Quest X Single Player: Assuming a Western release, which is looking unlikely at this time unless I missed out on something. I scarcely go to gaming news sites anymore so it is possible that I missed something, but I look at enough forums where I doubt it.

Metal Warriors Remaster: This, too, will never happen but after discovering the SNES title on Sega Lord X's channel it makes me a bit sad to think I cannot play this game.

As far as GOG releases are concerned, mind you I try in general not to give them as much business these days:

Any Resident Evil title prior to VII. After that and I may consider it for mods.

Codename Panzers Cold War. I am still waiting on that one, guys.

Diablo II and III.

Skyrim. Mostly for mods, but I'd probably play a little bit of it over the base game first.
I'm ignoring real games I know will be existing, or those that exist but I'd just like to come to GOG. (Like Haunted Chocolatier.)

Hypothetical games I expect will happen, though maybe not for a while:
* Whatever Subset Games decides to do next (FTL/Into the Breach).
* The next game by the couple that made Fell Seal.
* Grim Dawn 2
* Stars in Shadow 2
* Whatever overhead shooter 10tons (Tesla vs Lovecraft) makes next.

Hypotheticals that probably will never happen:
* Guild Wars but made into a real game rather than an MMO.
* Iga & Bloodstained-developers-get-the-real Castlevania license back.
* Another Lara Coft & Some other Entity game (co-op action puzzle games in the vein of Guardian of Light).
* Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes 2
* Another real game by Mistwalker (Blue Dragon/Lost Odyssey). It really sucks they switched to mobile stuff and got themselves trapped by Apple.

Hypotheticals that will almost certainly happen some time but won't be released in a consumer-friendly fashion to follow through on actually buying it:
* Koei Warriors game with Final Fantasy characters. (c.f. Hyrule Warriors or Dragon Quest Heroes)
* Warcraft 4
* Shadow Complex 2
* Another Culdcept game

No questions asked? No research?

None.
None.
I don't buy games without asking question.
I need to understand if the game is actually good.

But there are some sequel that I think I would like to buy at day 1 (not if they cost more than 25€).
I like deus ex, hitman, morrowind, pillars of eternity, grim fandango, system shock, Shadow Warrior/Duke Nukem 3D, The Witcher 1, Dark Souls 1, Fallout 1-2, Ni No Kuni, Dungeon Keeper 1, Asterix&Obelix XXL 1-2-3, Need For Speed most wanted, Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast and Dragon Age Origins (there are others like Anima Gate of Memories, Trine ecc... but I would stop here)...
Anything like that is something I would love to get but nothing at all cost.

Better framing would be, 'what developers have earned your trust enough to buy a game of theirs on day one?'
Sequel to Age of decadence (or sequel might be the wrong word, "Vault Dweller", the creator of Age of decadence, has stated that if another game in that setting would ever be made, it would take place at the same time as the first game and deal with an expedition to another continent). I also bought Colony ship rpg as soon as it was available here. tbh I'm increasingly tired of gaming, and probably should stop completely. Most games disappoint me and I feel like I'm wasting my time. Age of decadence wasn't perfect, but it was one of those rare games in recent years that I really enjoyed, because it was actually something fresh and unique.

Okay, thinking about it a little, trying to play along, maybe:

- a new Sam & Max adventure in 2D (maybe even pixel art), written and designed by Steve Purcell
- any new adventure written by Dave Gilbert
- anything RPG related by Instant Kingdom (they once announced plans for a Driftmoon DLC but it never came to light)
- anything Planescape (I bought Dark Dreams of Furiae for NWN Day One; it wasn't all that great, but I would do it again)
- possibly any new NWN Premium module (although I don't think there will be any more)
- anything RPG related that SureAI put in as much work as into Nehrim and Enderal

- I want to say any new Divinity OS type game by Larian, but that already exists with BG3, and tbh I don't like buying Early Access games, it probably won't run smoothly on my system, and it costs a bit more than I'm willing to spend - so much for no questions asked ... ;)
That reminds me, did anyone buy AOE 4 when it was released yesterday?
