I've recently meet Spiderweb Software website to check what they're working on at this moment. And there is only mysterious note about remaster of their "all-time most popular game". I'm trying to figure out what game may it be, but unfortunately, after short research in the internet I could find any comparison/statistics which would help me to guess, which game will be remastered. So far Spiderwebsoftware was making alternately remake of Avernum and new Avadon game. Since last release was of Avadon 3, I'm guessing that now there can be in progress remake of Avernum 3... But would it fit to the "most popular game" they've mentioned?
Maybe they've started remastering Geneforge ?
For me Escape from the Pit probably because it was the first from them, back when it was called Exile: Escape from the Pit

As a matter of fact, they have. :)
Avernum 3.was often called by fans the most popular games in Spiderweb, so maybe it is.

Not yet they haven't:

Jeff Vogel, Spiderweb Software (4 months ago)
"Yes, I will remaster Geneforge. All of them, absolutely. However, it has to get in line. I'll probably start the Geneforge remasters in 3 years. Avernum 3 is far more due."
Personally, 2 was the first one I played and got into, so Crystal Souls will hold a special place in my heart, being probably the first WRPG I ever played.

Now on the matter of the third one, I tried to get into it, but I get along with timed missions as well as your average cat gets along with a bath.
Avernum 3, Geneforge 1-5 and Nethergate: Resurrection are the only games in need of a remaster. Those, or Blades of Avernum, and I'm pretty sure he said he never wanted to touch this one again.

Jeff Vogel has said that Avernum 3 is by far the most popular game over the years, and he has also stated he is going to remake it next, so mystery solved. Here's the blog where he says so: http://jeff-vogel.blogspot.dk/

The line is "After I remaster Avernum 3 (our most popular game over the years), I'm going to do something way different. It's well past time."

As for the spiderweb games, they are amazing. I've only completed the Avadon remaster so far on my iPad (which I bought on a whim), but I got so immersed in it, I promptly bought Avadon 2, the Avernum 1 remaster and the Avernum 2 remaster (already had this one for the PC but wanted it for the iPad as well as I think it's a nice type of game for an iPad). Once I'm done with them I plan on getting the last avadon, and the remaining avernums, and by then the geneforge series will hopefully have been remade.

I also played the hell out of it back in the day. It drew me in because it had that "Castle of the Winds" vibe backed by an impressive mythology and story-line.

It was one of the first RPGs I ever played and it's probably because of it that I got hooked on RPGs for a long while after that.

Thanks a lot for answers & links!

Well then, Avernum 3 - quite good news! I like a lot Escape from the Pit (still didn't finished Crystal Souls), those revived Avernum games are really entertaining games. And quite big and rich in locations!

(Although in my opinon Geneforge series is the most spectacular and original (both as the "game itself" as well as idea for plot etc - so I'm even more happy that Geneforge will be revived as well)
Currently playing the hell out of Avernum Escape from the Pit on my android phone. I'm enjoying it immensely. Wish Crystal Souls would be available on my phone as well but I guess Spiderweb is shying away from mobile development :(

When your studio basically consists of you, yourself, and oneself, you have to pick your cards carefully.
