I've already wasted $50 on gift cards that I thought GOG would accept, only for none of the transactions to go through, with GOG support not being a helpful as they should be. I even asked them flat-out which gift cards their website will accept, but they never gave me a straight answer, and when I pressed them for one, they just ignored me.

So now, you guys are my last hope. Can you help me where GOG support has failed?

I live in the USA, and I don't have, and cannot currently obtain, a debit card. So I have to use gift cards instead. I've already tried Visa and American Express gift cards to purchase games here, and neither have worked.

Which gift cards bought in the USA will GOG accept? Ergo, which gift cards that I buy in the USA will allow me to complete my transaction without giving me any errors?

I don't want to screw this up again. Thanks in advance.

Never used gift cards, but these are the payment methods listed on GOG.

Try to "buy" wallet funds and see what you can chose from at checkout.

Your first check would be to see if the gift cards you've bought even allow international online transactions. From what I've heard a few USA gift cards just don't allow this, hence it's not going to work in a lot of places.

From what I've read you probably have to avoid gift cards. You might get away with a prepaid debit Visa if you can get your hands on one, but the best bet (like argamasa said) is to source a Paysafecard instead.

I don't think GOG has ever supported gift cards, no idea where you got that idea from. Their operation is way too small to have their gift cards sold in big retail stores like Steam.

Reloadable prepaid credit cards you get from convenience stores should be able to work too in addition to argamasa's suggestion on Paysafecard. Just make sure you read the fine print to ensure you can use it outside of the US.

CVS stores sell Visa debit cards, last I checked, so that should resolve your issue. You just have to make sure you specify a billing address when activating the card or the card won't let you purchase anything online.

This has been a problem since they began. Gift credit/debit cards sadly do not work at all. This is due to the international blockade these banks impose on such cards. Most probable reason being, scams and laundering problems. The only way these cards work internationally, is to register the card with both a bank and social security number like a normal card. Which is silly, because most people want both privacy and not to risk personal accounts....hence the gift card.

Technically Paysafecard exists in the usa, but you jump through hoops to get it. Plus in my experience, whenever the denomination in it is not fully used, the leftover is no longer valid. As in, you use it all at once or lose the difference.

Besides that, you can usually get a good experience with gog using it.
"Gift cards" sounds more like someone tried to scam you.

Prepaid/limited use money cards? Kinda useless as #7 posits, due to the non-veracity of their processing.

I would consider using paypal or a credit union.

No, of course we cannot cause GOG to accept a payment method that they don't actually accept.

GOG doesn't accept any "gift cards," so the answer to your question is zero, none.

GOG customers can't do anything to help you with this problem.

Why can't you get a debit card?

Likewise, why can't you get a credit card?

No, I was never scammed. I bought the gift cards with my own money.
Before I had a credit card, I would always use these gift cards. Not sure if you’ve tried them yet, or even if they still work, but they were what I used to use back when I first started buying from here. I’d just buy and use, didn’t have to register them online or anything.

Amex Gift Cards don't work on GOG because those cards require a billing address. When you try to pay for games on GOG with those cards, there is no billing section area in the GOG checkout to input your billing address, so it won't work.

Yeah. They're non-refundable. I had to use them for something else.

That was the last type of gift card I tried. It didn't work.

While I don't like the answer, I appreciate the swift response. I just wish GOG support was this reliable. Thank you.

Does PayPal work?

I too live in the US and I can attest to the fact that Paypal at least used to work (I haven't used Paypal in years) here. In fact, IIRC, you could use a credit card (or gift card I guess????) that gog normally wouldn't accept as long as it went "through" Paypal. I had an American Express card linked to my Paypal account that when I tried American Express itself it didn't work here but when I went through Paypal it would work.

Have no idea whether Paypal still works though.

And there really should be some Visa or Mastercard gift cards that will work, but as mentioned above read the fine print first. Many gift cards won't work internationally but many will. I guess it's a caveat emptor thing.
