Lots of old RPGs made their way to GOG since it's earliest days, like Ultima and Might & Magic, and some great pearls have be released since, like the Gold Box games. Wizardry however has remained nowhere to be seen.

Yes, I know Wizardry 6, 7 and 8 are here, but what about all the older ones? I know those games got compilation re-releases for PC many, many years ago (Wizardry Trilogy 1 and 2, if I remember correctly).

Does anyone have the slightest clue as to why they never joined GOG's catalog of amazing super old RPGs?
Unwilling rights holders, I think.
From what I understand, the legal situation is complicated.

In the meantime, you might want to check out Elminage Gothic, which plays very similarly to the old Wizardry titles.

According to this 7-year-old post, a reboot is coming, but it'll be tampered with. Proving Grounds is on a handful of abandonware sites, so keep a lookout. By the way, has anyone played the "new" Playstation version? I can't imagine it's any good... https://www.tomshardware.com/news/XSEED-Games-Wizardry-Sir-Tech-RPG-PlayStation-Network,12449.html

Wizardry Tale of the Forsaken Land for the ps2 was pretty good at least.
I believe they would need permission from Andrew Greenberg and/or Robert Woodhead to re-release them.
