Yes I am FINALLY getting off my lazy ass all these years and play the Witcher games.

Starting with the first one. And let me tell you. So many Red Flags are raised.

Character's have the faces of dolls, so unexpressive, mostly ameturish voice acting with an exception of Geralt and few, combat feels so different, if this is the whole game, just time 3 attacks at a time to win, than that's lame. Heck I am just playing on the easiet difficulty because I have no idea of this game's rules and systems.

So far this game is so clearly suffering from First Game syndrome as in this is clearly CDProjeckt first game they ever made.

You should have played the game before the Enhanced Edition. lol

It'd be cool if GOG added the original version as an extra, just for historical/comparison/mockery purposes.

But yeah, Witcher 1 is weird. Lots of things about it fly in the face of how it's generally assumed that games of its type 'should' work, but once you get the hang of its eccentricities, it's a great game. I ended up having trouble adapting to the more 'normal' Witcher 2, because I kept instinctively trying to play it like the first game. Stick with it, it's worth it.

I keep starting it and losing interest five minutes in. The attack system is bullshit.

If I was you then, I would leave the Witcher series as they go downhill after the first one.
I think I'll go play a Witcher game.
The combat becomes a bit more interesting the more you play it. Assuming you upgrade all the fun little options. Decapitating five blokes with one swing always gets me going.

I think you need to remember that it's a. old and b. not a big expensive game.

You should try to stick to it for longer than five minutes (let's say: an hour, or so) ...you'll get used to it.
I know that I got used to it so much, that I was pretty pissed, when they changed it for The witcher 2.

;)
The witcher 1 tried to do something new. The combat system is different. Once you accept that it's different and go along, you'll see that it's quite a lot of fun. Voice acting isn't the greatest, I have to agree. Other than that it's a great game. Especially for it's time. It was a cult classic, not many knew about it. If you want to enjoy the game, just appreciate it for what it is and don't compare it to big budget titles. :P
Probably my favourite RPG ever. The combat is way better than the console slasher bullshit from the sequel. It's simple but requires some tactics and a little experience. I'm sure it's lame on easy, the game is not pull-out-you-hair difficult in any case, so easy is sure to be way too simple. The voice acting- I have no idea about other language versions, but the polish voice acting was really good, and way beter than prety much any polish dub in a game I've played. The graphics- well, it is a game from 2007, sure the character animation doesn't look great ten years later. Then again, it still looks better than Mass Effect Andromeda :D I think considering it's a decade old game the graphics still hold up pretty well, and some of the environments are great.

And most of all- I love the story, the characters and the mood. Nothing else quite like it in any game I've ever played, including the sequel (I haven ot played the third one) which was a way more generic dark fantasy thing.

I had no problem with the voiceacting and graphics, but yeah, the combat is pretty lame. I played it on medium difficulty, and it still felt mostly super-simplistic. It also gets tedious later on when you have to still kill hordes of easy enemies that give you hardly any xp.
I'd give it a 3/5, not a bad game, but certainly not a classic imo.

Why...was it that bad???

TRUTH: one of these days I'm going to stick it out for longer than ten minutes and come back here begging forgiveness for everything bad I ever said about it. :P

It's exactly what happened with me and C&C.
