thefallenalchemist: I've been using this site for about five years now. I should mention that I am not a Steam user and do not have the program installed on my computer. So if it isn't a handful of other places with scant amounts of DRM-Free software, I'm mostly here.
This payment verification system needs to be retooled and it needs to be retooled before the end of the year. Look guys, I've used several other sites like Humble, Itch and Playism, but I have never had to wait ten to twenty minutes for my payment to authorize. It just doesn't happen, and is an absolute waste of my valuable time. On a website with timed sales, having long amounts of time by which to verify payments is ludicrous. I don't really know who is behind this ridiculously convoluted method of payment verification, but it is time to send them out to pasture - or at least to another place of employment.
I've purchased two titles and have had to wait ten minutes between each for verification. My time is valuable as a customer, and I simply don't have time to waste waiting on whatever in the heck this new system is. It wasn't like this a few weeks back, but I can say that if you choose to continue it, you'll discourage people from using this site altogether.
Let me give you an allegory. The retail store that I worked in for four years closed down for many reasons. One of those was due to a similar company policy. When people come up to buy merchandise, that is all that they want. They don't want to sign up for offers, or to have to say their phone numbers and email addresses every time they make a purchase. They just want to get the product as quickly as they can, because their time is precious. Making people wait for any reason is just ludicrous. I've never seen anything like this before, and hopefully you'll do away with it like it was a bad dream caused by eating pizza too late at night.
I like the fact that GOG have always offered a lot of great games and do quite a bit of sales that keep me buying. But if I have to wait ten or twenty minutes at a time for every single PayPal purchase that I make, I will be less inclined to shop here for digital games. Whatever you have to do to fix this, please do so. I'm not the only one who has complained about it and it is a detriment to my experience as a long-time customer and supporter who has spent hundreds here over the last couple of years.
Hey, we've never had anyone mention this on the forum or to any of us before. I'd recommend checking with your bank and see what the issue is, because it's definitely not something that happens routinely to our customers.
