Racing Games on gog since I'm only using this service. I don't like steam and others because of the DRM, no game ownership and also they store malware on people's computers that slow down gaming performance.

Where did you hear that? Many of us have been using it for years with varying security software ranging from free to premium across Windows, Mac, and Linux and this hasn't been a widely reported problem.

I sway towards the positive. :)

Search the GOG community wishlist for specific racing games you are interested in and cast your vote for them. By doing so recently GOG finally was able to bring System Shock to the store thanks to people expressing so much interest in the title. That's the way to have a positive effect on seeing more racing titles here. :)

As far as I can tell driving games are a bit trickier to get for Gog because they need permission from a lot of car makers to use their cars in the games, which most likely has expired since the games were released.

So no Outrun 2006 with Ferarri's in it for us.

Yes, racing games - if they use real car brands - are licensing hell. Additionally many racing games have soundtracks with pop/rock tracks from various artists, this is another obstacle. You need international music distribution rights for those songs and the music license market is incredibly complicated with distribution rights split among several (sub)companies for regions and even single countries. Not to mention the collecting societies like GEMA in Germany...

The good news, then, is that your ownership of the game is exactly the same on gOg as on Steam - i.e. you acquire a license to play the game. So while you are dithering here and there with semantics, I guess I will just go and... I don't know... maybe play Assetto Corsa for a little bit? Have fun waiting... I know I will have fun, if that's any help. .

Nope on steam you rent and you don't own games you *supposedly* purchase. I do not need to make a bigger thread about this then I need to.

The difference being on Gog, they can take your licence away you can still play your game. Steam they can take your licence away you can no longer play your game. Kind of a large difference there.

nah, steam can not take your license away. In this case, only Kunos Simulazioni (who owns the IP) can take your license away, and that's the same on gOg. Steam can take away access to manage the game via Steam only. And the same goes for gOg games - tgOg can not take away any license, but stop your access to gOg services for a game only.
