I just noticed a specific wishlist with a great deal of entitled whining an even some threats, so I would like to tell the GoG devs and those that help out "Thanks" for continuing to have individual game installers for many games (at least the ones I've tested) install fine on an XP system. This really is a great feature for at least some of us, and though I don't get some of the features from clients like Galaxy anymore, I love that I can install games such as Far Cry 1 without any nonsense. Just install and play.

I'm pretty sure GOG doesn't "support" Windows XP at all.

What you are describing is some GOG games just happen to work on Windows XP.

But that's not what "supporting" Windows XP actually means.

Yay I found 1 person still playing video games on Windows XP.

My main PC still has Windows XP Windows XP 64-bit and my second PC has Windows 7 64-bit installed.

I will be using Windows XP 640bit and Windows 7 640bit for the rest of my life.

Windows XP for life.

Nice, what do you use? I have an old XPS M1730 laptop and dual boot XP and 7. Currently I download on 7, copy to my XP drive, then reboot. You?

It's probably pure coincidence they work, so unless your setup is completely airgapped, there's no reason you should have a Windows XP machine.

Wine/Proton have made much greater strides in 4 years than a moribund OS of 20 years age.

No developer is building for XP, GOG is not supporting XP, M$ hasn’t supported XP since 2009. If your computer explodes then no one will help you.

Actually MicroSoft released one last security patch for Windows XP in 2019 or in 2020 or in 2021.

It's almost like that game is supposed to work on XP to begin with...
GOG didn't do anything special here.
Never can you know if you need to go back to a windows xp pc like i did in 2016 when my win 10 pc broke
currently i am on win 10 now again and had the luck that updates didn't f anything up

Yes, but for all intents and purposes it’s dead. Things move on. It’s not just the security aspect, but you will simply be limiting yourself more. I liked XP and 7, two of the best versions of windows, but time moves on. My new laptop came with win 11, it’s lightning quick, very weird and new, don’t like the moving of things to the middle and cannot find half the things in the menu, but it s the way of the future. I mean you could go to Mac or Linux, but I am sure they regularly create new versions as well, it is the way of technology.
