I bought/paid for ZORK ANTHOLOGY and got a VIRUS DETECTED message when trying to download game from my BITDEFENDER software. What gives? Anyone else have this problem?

I'm 99.9% sure this is a false positive. When in doubt, try uploading the file to VirusTotal or try a few different scanners (like ie. MalwareBytes).

toxicTom: I'm 99.9% sure this is a false positive. When in doubt, try uploading the file to VirusTotal or try a few different scanners (like ie. MalwareBytes).
I probably was not precise in my wording. I have no file. Bitdefender blocked the dowload from GOG Galaxy, no fifle was downloaded. I checked Virus Total however a file is required for them to verify.

Disable BitDefender for the download then, so you can at least get the files.

That's 99.99% a false positive.

Does the warning message contain something like "/heur" somewhere, by any chance? Because this is basically Bitdefender saying "I have seen BMWs with four wheels before so I'm pretty sure this four-wheeled ox-cart is actually a 5 series in disguise!"...

Yes it does say "GenTrojan heur"etc. Thanks a bunch! I think I can now solve my problem.I am very grateful for all the reponses to my question! I am a computer USER not a computer KNOW-IT-ALL NERD! I wish I could just enjoy my computer without being constantly bombarded by junk troubles like this! Danke und Guten Tag!

If you want to be extra too sure, you can always dump files into places like VirusTotal to see what engines think of them as viruses and why.

Please mark one of the posts as solutions, if it's solved. I think Randalator had the idea with "heur", I should have thought of that in the first place...
