Wishbone: That's quite interesting to watch, although in some time periods it changes too fast for the viewer to follow. It would be better to have a larger interactive version where you could use a slider to move the year, and possibly have a legend of which color corresponds to which political entity.
I agree. I'd like to sit in my comfy chair with a cup of hot coffee in my right hand and follow map changes in my own pace.
Nevertheless it was a nice thing to watch, assuming the animation is historically correct.

In my view, the mix of strength, beauty and diversity or Europe is in the National States - give or take. Meaning that the borders of today are mostly quite organically defined according to linguistic, cultural and legal tradition.

Possibly we also had the skill to erase or incorporate the cultures that were in the continent before, except on the fringes.

To ask oneself what is the "right" answer to Ireland, Corsica, Basque land or Lappland - this is a hard question indeed.

But I also should think that the Third World War shall not be initiated at European soils.
