I have never had a experience with starforce but recently got a game with it as its DRM. I was wondering the community's experiences and thoughts on installing the 2007 version of it. The game is Dawn of Magic from Gamersgate.

Ive read lots of internet forums and I am kinda scared to even try to install it, its not worth it to me if I mess up my computer.

Install the game using cracked starforce free copy(legit as you bought the game) or install it from the GG files, remove starforce from your PC using the proper app from the starforce site(this will break the game but read on) and replace the game's main exe with a no-cd one from gamecopyworld.

I've only ever installed 1 game with Starforce (Chaos league).
As far as I can tell, it did no permanent damage to my system, but the game ran like crap.
When I started reading all the horror stories, I grabbed a cracked version of the game.
The cracked game ran considerably better without Starforce getting in the way.
Meh, I've been walking the thin line all this time. Best case scenario - no problems. Worst case scenario - seppuku.
NO.

You can install the game but it will ask you to install Starforce separately. Don't do it. Crack the game and remove all trace of Starforce using an official Starforce removal tool (you can find it on their site). Then you should be fine.
Eww. No.
Thanks everyone for you input.

No problem.
I once had some starforce bullshit stuck on my computer from just a demo. It was a pain in the ass
Alright update. I installed Dawn of magic and as far as i could tell it just had a activation client. Tags?. it asked for serial key and said I had 4 activations. It never asked or said anything about starforce (even though the gamergate website states starforce is the DRM) and I checked hidden devices under non plug and play devices and its not showing starforce installed.......Weird but I am happy.

Limited activtions would indicate there is some sort of protection. You could check the program folder and see if there is a file called PCNSL.EXE or PROTECT.EXE has been installed.
it does have a protect.exe FrontLine Protection GUI Application ok I guess it does have starforce......

Get a starforce removal app from starforce's site....remove starforce(leave the game) then get a no-cd exe from gamecopyworld and replace the game's exe with the one you download.
ok i downloaded removal app and it says no protection drivers to remove.

Did you reboot after installing the game? You need to do this before the uninstaller app will detect the drivers and be able to remove them.

If you didn't reboot yet then do so then run the starforce removal app.
