Some people believe the world will end in 2012. It is 2011. Who here is worried? I'm worried because there are so many games I havent played yet. So many delicious foods I haven't tried yet. I hope the world will end stuff is just people being paranoid as usual.

You know that whole thing about 2012 is based on the Mayan Calendar and it doesn't actually say it's the end of the world, just that it's the end of one world and the beginning of another.

Basically, the ENTIRE planet gets what's known as New Game+.

We discovered a 'New World'. In 1492. Bloke called Chris. It's called America.

OFFS. Not this shit again.

READ!

And then go castigate yourself in penance.

I said, "CASTIGATE"!
Maybe we discover Pandora in 2012. :P
Uhm... I think you need to sort out your priorities but to each his own. :)

I'm nowhere near worried about 2012. I am worried that the next few years might have harsher weather, that there's seven billion humans on the planet and there must be a breaking point where our resources will not be able to feed us all, that the situation in the middle east is in flux and we don't know where that flux will lead us and that an earthquake like the one that hit Japan could someday hit us, but I doubt 2012 will be the year when everything collapses.

If that year comes, I hope it does after I'm at least fifty, so I'll feel like I've lived most of my life, though I'd rather be just plain dead by then. The end of the world is not the sort of event I'd like to witness.

Chris won a highly controvertial copyright claim.
There was a big shout a while ago about nostradamus predicting the end of the world. I think it was the 8th of August, may have been a bit later. There was a weird scrawl he wrote that had been translated as something like "In the land of the eagle, the destroyer will be born".

The sad thing was that there were people that believed this so strongly they actually gave up on their lives. One guy was interviewed by the press, and stated that on that day he was going to go and sit on a hill in some local picturesque place, and await the end of the world. If you were that guy, at what point do you think that you'd say "oh, ok, guess I was wrong, guess I'll go ask for my job back.".

It turned out the whole thing was a very poor translation, and it went something like "in a village in spain a pair of siamese twins will be born, and a tax collector will come.", those tricky apostrophes.

Also, are we totally sure that we can predict any calendar? I know that the Gregorian Calendar is actually accurate back to 1753, but the whole reason we made it was because we weren't really sure what date it was. Maybe the Mayans did a better job.

"You may think it is the year 1999, when in fact it's closer to 2199. We can't tell you exactly what year it is, because we honestly don't know."
Look on the bright side. The meteors won't arrive until December 2012. Also, I think they're bringing free cotton candy for everyone.

Leiv Eriksson, probably somewhere around 1003-05.
