I am trying to post in the Alpha Centauri forum but just get a 404 error when posting my message.

Not sure if this is getting through either.

Edit: Well, it did

But still can`t post in the Alpha Centauri forum

Probably because of the sale and the extra strain on the servers, but who knows. Don't worry, you're no the only one.
Due to a spambot attack, some simple anti-spam functionality has been added, which is probably what you ran into. You need 10 reputation points to post links or something like that.
It's being caused by the spam filter, I've been having the same problems. There also seems to be a length/paragraph limit that's triggering it as well, although you can get around it to a certain extent by replying to your own message and having the forum automatically merge the posts.
My post was a bit long so that may have caused it. I`ll try to shorten it.
For what it's worth, I've been uprepping you. If some join in, it might get you over the ten points tomorrow.

Just did the same. And it looks like 10rep is the tipping point for the post length problem as well.
I've had the same problem since I came to the forums. I just crossed the 10 rep barrier last night or today so not sure if anything has changed yet as I haven't posted enough today to get a real idea either way. Time will tell I suppose. Now that the holidays are over, hopefully GOG folk coming back to work can put a better antispam solution in place as the current solution murders 90% of my posts if they're more than one sentence or contain links or even dollar signs.
I posted my message ( a bit shorter) and it got through. Was not aware of this rep thing.
But do now :)
I haven't had the problem occur since I went over rep 10 yesterday, but I've already altered my posting habits to small posts and usually not posting a URL although I've managed to get a few URLs out there too. Seems to work much better with rep 10+, although I've seen people with rep 600+ post that they've had the problem on occasion too. Trial and error I guess... :)
Haven't had any problems here

You have a rep. of 525, so the filter will probably leave you alone unless you post something it finds deeply suspicious.

I was having the same problem; guess I better start posting more Dx
I've just had a reply e-mail from Support about the filter and the disappearing posts, saying, 'We will update the forums on Monday to remedy this problem.'

I received the same email also. Hopefully they've got it all sorted out by Monday!
