Were you one of those people happy to see the WS Anderson series end? Apparently it's box-office take told them otherwise, because now Jovovich has confirmed that they are making another one.
I'm one of the people who actually likes his take on the series. In other words, I love the campy silliness of Jovovich kicking a dog in the face.
I liked the first and second one but not the 3rd. I can see why they are churning out a 5th though if the 4th was their biggest release to date. Not sure if I'll bother watching it myself depends if the 4th one is more like the first 2 or the 3rd.

I enjoyed the first 3. Haven't even seen 4 yet as it's only just opened at cinemas here and the cost of cinemas is far too high. So I'll be waiting for the eventual DVD release as I couldn't care less about seeing this in 3D.
Still, it's good to know they're going for a 5th part. I can't think of any other game based movies that managed to get past an initial sequel.
The first three are all cheesy action films, and enjoyable enough.
Was hoping to see the 4th in 3D, but can't convince anyone to go see it. Will wait for the DVD release instead.
No doubt I'll end up watching the 5th, 6th and however many others they make.
I've seen all the movies, except the fourth one, which I'm going to see as soon as it premiers here in Finland. And although I haven't seen the newest film yet, I'm glad to hear they're already planning on making more because if the 4th film is anything like the previous ones I'm going to enjoy it as well. Too bad it's all 3D nowadays, I'd prefer to see my movies the traditional - and cheaper - way. Call me old fashioned but I just never understood why I should pay more to get some fancy 3D effects which make your eyes hurt in the long run and also, IMHO, make the more intense scenes blurred.
It's sad, for me, that this movie is more successful than Scott Pilgrim.
And technically there are (at least) 5 Resident Evil movies released already. Don't forget Resident Evil: Degeneration.

Yea that ones more of a spin off though then part of the Alice series of Resident Evil movies.

True, but it's also more true to the form of the actual games.

Exactly, personally I would call Degeneration the only real Resident Evil movie (even if it has it's flaws too) with the Resident Alice movies being the vaguely related spinoffs.

I saw the first two movies and liked them well enough, the first more so since it was set apart from the games in a side story.
I despise apocalypse movies, so when I heard Degeneration was set in a world where the outbreak was global and destroyed everything, I didn't want to see it. I saw roughly the last half of the movie when I was bored and my wife was watching it.
Might see Afterlife in theaters, but I don't want to see it in 3D. My wife wants to see it since she thinks the woman playing Jill is hot and she likes Milla, so, yeah, might have to go see it :P
After watching the 4th one last night I can't see how these make money. It was horribly bland and generic shoot-em-up flick. There were barely any zombies in it. Probably would have helped if the opening was used as the ending. I've seen better Direct-to-DVD/Sci-Fi channel movies.
I didn't even know there was going to be a fourth one until a few days ago.
Let's see... the first one was okay, I do not remember the second one at all, and I actually rather enjoyed the third, even though I'm probably the only one who did. A coworker tells me that the fourth is horrible, but I'll probably rent it at some point.
I despise the game series utterly, but the movies are alright.

The fourth literally has no plot or story at all.
How do these movies make money? In what way is Mary Sue Alice a compelling character? In what ways do people perceive Paul W.S. Anderson as a better director than Uwe Boll? And why are people going to spend an extra $5-7 per ticket for horrible 3-D?
I need to go wash my brain of this nonsense with some Army of Darkness.
Oh good God.
Well okay, the first one wasn't bad but seriously? This will not end well.
