Hi Anyone here ever used this: Prestigio MultiPad 7.0 Ultra ?

I'm thinking of getting this, as it's either this or a Amazon Kindle E-Reader. I would like to know if you used it what was your impressions of it

I cant answer that but i do need to thank you, you just reminded me that I need to teach my old dear how to use her Nook (another e reader thingie) and find out if you can get books for free on it though I doubt that you legally can.

Do UK libraries not have e-book lending? Here in the U.S. we can borrow from a decent selection (on a case to case basis depending on how well your local library supports the format) of books and download them at any time of the day, generally for 21 day periods at a time...

Think Smashword's books can be read on nook.

I know with kindle you get thousands of free books daily (if you know where too look). That's what I want to do, is to get the tablet, Install Kindle for Android and use it as a kindle reader.

As a tablet, these entry level 7 inches tablets suffer from their single core processor, from their limited ram and flash storage. You'd probably be better with a dual core A9 CPU, coupled to at least a quad core Mali GPU. And certainly you will want to actually see it in operation before you buy as screen quality can be an issue for those "value" brands

For the kindle, better make sure you can buy the e-books you want before you purchase it. We have a funny situation with that here in Belgium. Some French or British store will not sell us e-books due to" IP rights" ... You can legally downlod any ebook that is in the open domain. Some services will provide them, along their paying titles. Of course, public domain books mostly predate WW1...

Mostly as an ebook reader I've got quite a collection of Kindle books, and mostly "buy" kindle books from the PC. I currently use Kindle on PC, and on Android (on my small Galaxy Ace) without problems.

Then, the discriminating factor ought to be the screen. The relatively low amount of ram and flash memory of the tablet will not be a major issue for reading books. If you planned to purchase this tablet from a a brick and mortar shop, the best option would be to ask a demonstration and see if you feel comfortable that lcd tft screen ( angle of vision, luminosity, reflection ,... ) If so, a tablet will enable you to do more than a kindle. If not, stick with a genuine reader

All of the descriptions on the site scream Chinese cheap tablets to me... not that that is a bad thing. I own 1 cheap 7" Chinese tablet and I'm happy with it, but I know very well what I'm getting too. I'll dig deeper into the tech specs and get back to you... but EXPECT a super low resolution on 7" for these cheapo tablets.

This is, in my opinion, worse than my cheapo tablet. It's running a 1 GHz A8 Cortex and I think it's a bit limiting.

But, if your only concern is ebooks, then the screen resolution is a great concern. 800x480 is not that good on a 7". In fact, it's not good for your eyes.
