now that it's been a week since the end of the Christmas sales here on GOG I'm sure other people have noticed the many, many new users here on the forums

To those people from myself and the community I say: Welcome to GOG

if you are one of those people reading this thread, it would be interesting to hear what exactly brought you to GOG, was it anything specific or was it any specific game (Or was it the free Empire earth gold)

tell us about your brief experience with this website, what you like and don't like so far

Once again: A warm welcome to all the new gamers here on GOG, hope you enjoy your stay
Yes, welcome. Though I am still pretty new myself. :)
For me it was the sale that finally made me register. I've thought about registering on GOG for a long time, and been aware of the site since its very start, but it was not until the sale that I decided to finally register an account. Freespace was the game that I initially was the most interested in, and Freespace 1 & 2 were my two first purchases. Empire Earth was just icing on the cake (sadly it was icing that did not taste very good, but you can always scrape that off ;) I did not really like the game, but now I know that). The sale ended up in a few more purchases apart from Freespace, namely: Advent Rising, Total Annihilation, Little big adventure, In cold blood, Shattered steel& Sanitarium, and I somehow also managed to win two giveaways, netting me Realms of Arkania 1-2, B-17 & Arx Fatalis (I'm a lucky bugger). B-17 is on my "currently playing" list.

Welcome to GOG! Did you get FSOpen for Freespace? If not you should take a look at it, it's freaking awesome :)
I hadn't really noticed the influx actually

Thanks!
I was under the impression that FSOpen only worked with FS2. I have sadly not had the time to play that game, but I will, as soon as I can.

It does, but you can play FSPort, which is a FSO port of the original Freespace.
I have heard of GOG.com for quite some time, so when I first decided to try digital download, I tried GOG.com along with Steam. And thanks to the awesome holiday sale and great community, GOG.com becomes my NO.1 site for digital download.
I luv u all 5ever (dats more den 4ever!)
I signed up because of the christmas sale. I knew about the site before, but I never really visited or thought of buying anything here before that. I guess Empire Earth had something to do with it too, but there wasn't really any particular game that made me sign up. I just wanted to see what the sale was all about really.
Welcome to all new users. Remember, there's usually a few giveaways running at any given time here, and you're entitled to participate in them as long as you fulfill the needed requirements:

1. Drink Uruk's potion. Trust me, it's almost safe

2. Insert liquor into antimateria.

Enjoy your stay :)

Another GOG old timer here in the thread. Nice to see so many 2008 people active.
