I was bored with rows of yellow folders, and the gfw.ico files that ship with GOG games aren't consistent with similar icons with other games, so I started making my own.

These are very easily made by using Icon Generator Pro (http://gog.is/icon/generator/pro) and IcoFX (http://gog.is/icofx), so I don't claim any artistic excellence here. However, I've tried to make the colors represent the dominant theme of the game or cover art, and I think it looks quite nice.

The end result isn't exactly exciting, but is a heck of a lot more interesting than rows of yellow folders. I thought I'd make the few icons I've done so far available to the GOG community. (I haven't done all GOG games, just the ones I have, and some other custom folder stuff.)

Edit: I didn't realize how rude I was, and I apologize, but I never liked the Adobe icons. :(

Honestly? They look like elements in the periodic table. They certainly don't look like game icons.
I've always liked the high quality icons that come with GOG games, couldn't imagine anything beating those.
Sure they're not game icons, but some folks like uniformity for their desktop. I tried for that few years ago, but I couldn't get all the icons I wanted and it just took too much time.
A lot of folks have submitted some pretty high res game icons over at Stardock's community site: http://www.wincustomize.com/

Some of their Windows extension software uses them.

Now can we please have vector for fonts and graphics and super high dpi (dpi has been stagnant for several years now).

This was basically my motivation, I'd rather have all the icons look consistent rather than some of them look great and some of them look like 32x32 monstrosities. It doesn't take a lot of effort to do this, and it's clean enough.

Plus, I kind of like the periodic table look. But anyway, as I say before, this isn't meant to wow anyone, it's just out there if someone else wants it.
