My current case is ugly as sin and when i upgrade the cpu and mobo i plan on using the equivelent of an industrial cooling system (scaled down)

So im looking for a large case that i dont have to hide away, preferably tool less design (not a major thing) and one that is already or can be lit up like blackpool illuminations. I do also like to see into the case but not to the degree of a clear case like the gameboy color had 15+ years ago.

I dont have a budget set but i dont want the case to be the most expensive thing.

Any suggestions?

None to suggest in particular but I would start by reviewing some of these

Not what I was planning but I like the NZXT Zero, only issue is there appears to be 1 stockist of it and I will not be giving those dicks a penny.
I would recommend a RaidMax case. They have lots of models with different visual impressions, and most of them have some really neat features. Just avoid the Smilodon. I have one of those, and while it has many brilliant features, it also has some really annoying ones. Never buy a cabinet with a front cover. But I'm sufficiently impressed with the rest that I'm definitely getting a different RaidMax model next time I need a new cabinet.
I really like NZXT Phantom so much so I just bought one. Its not your usual completely square design and has spots for 7 fans. So lots of potential for LEDs. The only problem is you would have to mod the case if you wanted to see into it by cutting out a window.

Can you tell me more about what you dislike about the Smilodon. I kinda like how it looks,

That and the Eclipse and Aeolus

Yeah I looked at the Phantom, the red appeals to me but I dont like the shape, or having to cut the thing up...

Edit: cant find a UK stockist of the Raidmax Aeolus

reaver894: Can you tell me more about what you dislike about the Smilodon. I kinda like how it looks,
Sure, there are 3 things:

1. The front "flap". It's hinged on the right side, and covers the entire front. This means that you have to open it whenever you need to access your optical drive(s), and if you plug anything into the front USB ports (or front audio jacks), you can't close it.

2. The front USB ports and audio jacks. They're placed at the very bottom of the front of the case (behind the door), and since my PC is on the floor, it's a long way down to access them.

3. Behind the transparent side hatch is a steel "arm" with a fan. It has three little rubber-tipped plastic pistons in a sort of ratchet arrangement. What you do is, you click them in as far as they will go, so that they are pushing against your graphics card. This means that there is tension between the inner components and the ouside of the cabinet, cutting down on vibrations. This is excellent... Until you get a graphics card that is too big. Then the arm can't close even with the pistons as far out as they will go, and you can't remove the pistons, because they are part of a big one-piece plastic arrangement which includes the fan, and which can't be removed from the "arm". Fortunately, the arm itself lifts out of its hinge easily, so now I'm short one side fan.

Apart from those three things, the cabinet is excellent, and RaidMax seems to agree. At least they haven't included those three "features" in any of their newer cabinets, as far as I can see.

Wishbone: snip
Yup, I think numbers 1 and 3 would irritate me, atleast until I got so irritated I broke the door off, then theres just 3...

Are there any European sites that sell the Aeolus and ship to the UK for a reasonable price? I cant find a single 1 in this country

Yeah, well the door is wired to the inside of the cabinet. Electrically wired, I mean, so don't just break it in a fit of pique while the machine is on, or you might fry something inside.

Sorry, I wouldn't know. I buy all my stuff locally (from within the country, that is). There's a Danish website which consolidates all the catalogs from tons of retailers in Denmark (some with physical shops, some with only webshops), which means that you can look up any piece of equipment you want to buy and see where you can find it cheapest. If what you're looking for isn't there, it most likely isn't being sold in Denmark at all. Isn't there a similar site in the UK? If not, someone should make one.

We have comparison sites but the few cases ive found, if I didnt know better are not available in the UK for some dumb reason, Im guessing they are very well hidden, I live in the middle of no-where and I could find a 3 titted 20 year old girl with blue skin open to sexual experimentation walking around the area by me before I found a UK stockist of the fricking Aeolus.

If you find one of those walking around the area, be sure to take some pictures and post them here :-D

Edit: The Aeolus does look nice. It's certainly got enough airflow. Personally, I'd be concerned about the placement of the internal drive bays, but other than that, it looks like an excellent choice.

...Wait a minute... Ah, okay, that's an odd design. Apparently the PSU is mounted in the bottom of the cabinet. Yeah, I could see myself getting this case the next time.

As we say in French, we shouldn't discuss tastes and colours... ;-)
