So Aion closed beta has started for the second time. I quite enjoyed the game during the first beta, but did not think it was good enough to pay for the subscription.

I haven't been lucky to get a beta key this time, is there anyone who's got one and doesn't want it? :)

I think this is for the (EU only) F2P conversion.

the game still has enough subs in the US for NC to try to milk it a bit longer, probably another year or so and the NA version will follow.

that said, hosting this in the EU is probably a stunt to try to get the European market a bit more interested in this than it would had the game gone F2P internationally. appearantly the game tanked even harder across the pond than it did over here.

I'm still not entirely sure what this game is. I saw it pop up on Steam and said "Eh, looks like those Korean F2P's I used to mess about with" and passed it on by.

It really is. Plays pretty much like any other korean MMO. Pretty graphics, but the gameplay consists almost entirely of grinding. I don't know if this new beta changes any of that, but the first beta I played of it was like that at least.

It's Lineage 2 with flying and less penalties for ganking. They have a semi sane macro system built in so you can simply set up your chain skills and mindlessly press 1,1,1 to go through your attack chain, 2,2,2 to go through your healing chain, and 3,3,3,3,3 to go through your buff chain.

It's not horrible, but if you're not a fan of really grindy MMOs that's what this is, a really pretty, really grindy MMO (which is what most Korean MMOs end up being).

The restrictions are REALLY F'ING ANNOYING!
The limits for starter accounts mean you can't do anything you need to in an MMO:
Want to chat to people? Not unless your on their friends list!
Want to chat in general? You can't even SEE it!
Want to gather resources? 50 a day! And you get no warning when you reach it so you just think your bugged
Want to sell something?Theres limits on that too!

Is it just me, or does anybody else find it interesting that a brand new account with no prior posts just made essentially an advertisement?

The whole first post is an exact copy of mine from when I asked for a beta key...
That's a piracy and a fraud and hopefully soon ACTA will protect us from such things!
