Migration?

Soon we will be migrating to a AiV-only forum (adventuresinvue.forumotion.com), to make everything smoother and have all our resources/rules,etc. in a central location. In the mean time, let us continue. If you are already an active player, you can sign up at the forum using your character's name. Even if you're just a prospective player, you can sign up to, using a character name... and I will see where we can fit you.

Fresh off the capture of three Black Brigade infiltrators, the new Cobra Division recruits were on top of the world. That is, until their meeting with Lieutenant Davison.

"Boys, grab a seat." he said, sighing and scratching his head.

The Mage, Harzhan, the Rogue, Cat and the Warrior, Barnell all heeded his command.

"Look," Davison said, "we've got problems. Nothing we're doing is fixing this problem. The Ringmaster is intent on grabbing the throne, his pesky minions foil our every move. For the Cobra Division, such defeat is... unprecedented. We need a fresh approach, we need some young and hungry fighters. You're them."

He paused.

"Oh, he fancies himself a liberator, this Ringmaster. But, as you know, he's just insane. That is why the Brigade must be defeated. Now, they know that the good people of Northbrook will never stand for his usurpation of power. So they have gone and brought in outsiders into this quarrel. He's actively recruiting foreign races, foreign tribes. They all want a share of the plunder to be had from destroying this city and this great kingdom... and the Ringmaster aims to give it to him."

Barnell grabbed the hilt on his sword. "Never!" he exclaimed.

"Yes," Lieutenant Davison returned, "never. But how?"

"Round them all up now before it gets out of control?" asked the Mage, Harzhan.

"That would be a tough feat right now. We do not know their strength of arms, nor who among their new-found allies shall come to their aid." said Lt. Davison.

"Tell you what," returned Cat, "surely their allies have enemies just as we do. Perhaps we should win their favor. With the people on our side, getting other tribes involved should seal the deal in our favor."

"Precisely what I was thinking!" Lt. Davison replied. "We have just such an opportunity now. Our intelligence indicates that the Black Brigade is beginning to turn the Gobblers in their favor... little buggers should be no threat to us, I suspect. But they have fallen into poor repute with some of their neighbors, the Quenhali. Let's get them on our side."

"Who are the Quenhali?" asked Barnell.

"They are a warrior race... dwelling mostly in the swamps and lowlands. They have the face of Crocodiles but stand as if human." said Lt. Davison. "Earn their aid."

<Just then, a Quenhali emmisary emerged from behind a curtain. Davison's description was entirely accurate. Here stood a Crocodile-Man hybrid. Large and intimidating, he cast a shadow over the entire room>

"I am Leevor." he said, by way of introduction. "Among my kind... I am actually quite small." He chuckled.

"Now that that's out of the way," said Davison, "here's what I want you to do. The King has arranged for the transfer of a high value prisoner to the Quenhali. The caravan must move through Gullet's Pass - that's Gobbler territory, as you know. Provide the Quenhali escorts with as much cover as you can, for as long as you can. The longer you last, the greater the reward. Understood?"

OOC: I will post further details - including a map and updated character sheets - as soon as you sign in. Good luck!

OOC: Signing in.

"So.. We're not expected to last, sir?"
IC

Cat stone-facedly eyed the Quenhali, saying nothing. However, he smiled wryly at Harzhan's question. When the lieutenant looked at each of them in turn, Cat simply nodded his assent. In truth, Cat cared little for the treacheries and vagaries of politics. But what else could he do? It wasn't like refusing orders was an option at this point. At least not for him. In spite of the Cobra division's upstanding nature in the kingdom, it was no different than other areas of the civil service. There were those that volunteered. And then there were those that were volunteered by others.

We'll last, he thought. What choice is there?
