pH7: OOC: Don't know if I'm saying this before or after leaving to get Truz etc, but..

"You said something about the monks needing the woods if I recall correctly," Phil said to the two leaders of the children, "what exactly did you mean by that?"
OOC: Before. I'll let you get him once you're done with your questions.

Kalix speaks. "As it turns out, there is a plant that grows in the wild that is of prime importance to them. It is the food of choice for their.... monkey, or so they claim. We have come to an arrangement - they will buy it from us if we will harvest if for them."

Aaron86: Vir silently planted a message in Lucas' mind.

Keep Kafara distracted. I wish to gauge her intentions myself.
OOC: Clever that you can say this in front of her without actually... saying it. LOL

"Well in that case," Lucas thought to Vir.

"My dear lady can you tell me about Celestial Sovereignty? I am quite curious how it involves a monkey," Lucas began asking Kafara.

MrWilli: "Well in that case," Lucas thought to Vir.

"My dear lady can you tell me about Celestial Sovereignty? I am quite curious how it involves a monkey," Lucas began asking Kafara.
"Hah," she says, "Are you interested in joining up, young man? I should say, some truths cannot be disclosed to the uninitiated.

"But this much I can say: ancient Oma relics tell of a time where all the elements of the world were set against each other. This world you would not recognize, for it was long before humanoids took their first breath.

"All the species of this world are the descendents of one element or more: humanoids of the earth, the great beings of the sea are of the water, the dragons are of fire and air, the drakes of both water and fire and so on.

"The relics tell of a time when a force of primal evil (which goes unnamed) attempted to merge all of the elements into a mighty weapon of limitless power. At that time, many of our ancestors, whether or water or air, or fire or earth, fought together in one grand coalition to thwart this wicked deed.

"The monkey, what you people call a 'monkey', rather, was one of the great representatives of the power of the earth. It is his efforts which saved this world and paved the way for the birth of humanoids.

"The records say no more. However, we infer that the conflict distorted the fabric of all reality, creating with it an alternate world... one in which the weapon has been created. There, in that world, there exists all the same beings as in this one... but they have been corrupted. This explains the existence of the primitives. They are the same as us in many ways, but they exist in a world where the lust for power is the norm, not the exception.

"We have learned that some of these... 'monkeys', as you refer to them, retain traces of the genetics that our mighty ancestors of the earth had. Not many of them have these genes, only a few... and we have found one.

"Here in the forest of Northport, we have discovered the plant which unlocks this ancient power. When our ancestor consumes it, his strength returns. This is why we had to secure the plant: for it was the only way to finally drive the primitives from the city.

"Moving forward, we must continue to harvest the plant. We must continue to unlock the secrets that our ancestor holds. He will protect us.

Kafara squints, and whispers melodramatically, "What you have witnessed thusfar with the fall of Northport and Northbrook was just the beginning. Do not fool yourself into thinking this is over. This was the opening volley of a war that may consume our world if we are not careful."

"Uh Vir, hopefully you did the you needed to do by now," Lucas thought to Vir.

"Do you require assistance my lady? This sounds quite a dire situation."
As Kafara talks, Vir begins to enter her mind, intending to verify Kafara's honesty and to find any information she may not be admitting.

You are able to verify that Kafara's words to Lucas were honest, and that she intends to maintain the truce with the children. You can tell that she is still hiding important information, but you believe her mental defenses have been raised and she has a good chance of detecting your intrusion if you try to read her mind again.

OOC: Is everyone OK with me bringing Truz to the scene now and ending the quest? If not, I'll leave it open for one more real-life day to ask questions to Kafara (the cult leader) or Kalix/Kale (the child leaders).

Vir mentally relays this information to Lucas, adding that he should try to...convince Kafara to give them more information.

"What do mean by convince?" Lucas thought back, slightly worried.

I thought you were good with women, Vir thought.

"Eh not a true red head but I guess she'll do," Lucas thought back.

"May I ask you some other questions about your Celestial Sovereignty in private?" Lucas asked her in his most charming voice.

MrWilli: "Eh not a true red head but I guess she'll do," Lucas thought back.

OOC: I rolled for effect and it came up poor.

"Sadly," she says, "We are busy here. I cannot answer any more questions at this time. I'll address your leader only, but come back to us in the future and I would be happy to talk to you then."

OOC: So I'm leaving it open to speak to Kalix and Kale for one more real-life day, but "Truz" shall be along shortly to tell you about the results of the negotiation.

MrWilli: "Eh not a true red head but I guess she'll do," Lucas thought back.
OOC: Now that's just racist. :P
Truz speaks softly, "My friends, you have done a great job here. This shall indeed be our base of operations for the future. The area is safe enough, but there's surely some work to do to... building, fortification and so on. We also need to increase the size of our guild if we are to gain respect in the land."

"I've met with the two factions you've encountered, and we've arranged to share the city and cooperate in mutual defense should the primitives return. There is an uneasy tension between these groups, and we should work to keep them at peace... we may need their help before too long."

"The bulk of the broken city shall belong to us: the residential district, commercial district and the ruined palace. The children claim the valley as their own, but are willing to allow us passage should we need to move through their territory.

"The Celestial Sovereignty, on the other hand, is a bit more secretive. We are not permitted to journey near the tower, though we may send a single messenger at a time should we wish to speak with them.

"Our treasury is limited, but I have 100 gold to pay each of you for your services. You can use this to buy goods or services before your next quest. I wish the guild could pay you more.

"But, I do have some good news: in exchange for this pact, both the Celestial Sovereignty and the valley faction have agreed to provide you with unique training. You should be able to pick up a skill or two in the process.

"Further, with an established base, our merchants should be able to acquire more items for you to buy in the future.

"Let's settle into our new home and we'll figure out what to do next."

Gold:
Each gains 100 gold.

XP:

Arkades gains 75 XP + 1, +200 (training) = 276 XP.
Lucas gains 125 XP + 1, +200 (training) = 325 XP.
Phil gains 115 XP + 2, +200 (training) = 317 XP.
Vir gains 120 XP +1, +200 (training) = 321 XP.

You have each leveled up 2 times (or even 3). Meaning you each gain HP equal to your level increase (1 per level) and 1 skill point per level to spend on buying new skills. You must wait until you begin a new quest before buying skills (or before spending gold.) Congratulations and thanks!
