a sad fact occured to me some time ago:

as hard as I try to think about it, it seems that I don't know ANYBODY who likes old games... actually, the only two people I know who play games at all are my two brothers, older and younger, and they're both into those new-masseffective-dragonagy-soooboringforme games.

so when I try to promote gog for example and click "like" on some new release to show it on facebook, I'm 100% sure noone will care... it's kind of depressing :)

don't get me wrong, I'm all social and I "go out" a lot, talking to different people, but I'm still all alone in this...

what about you, do you have a lot of friends (or girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband, that must be cool!) who share your passion in old games?
It's the same here really; doesn't stop me from boring people to tears with tales of the games that time forgot though! :-)

Actually, that's what I like about this community; I've made some really good friends in my time here thanks to our shared passion for older games.
I've got a plenty of friends and a fiancé who partly shares my interests. The former just like good gameplay, the latter doesn't care about age as long as the game looks good.
My best friend likes old console games, the NES and SNES games him and I grew up on. He still plays them on his old systems or through ROMs. He bought a Wii for his kid but he prefers the old stuff. My wife played some old console games as a kid like Sonic and she sometimes plays some stuff with me.

Those are real life friends of course. I don't really get involved in social media outside of forums.
One of my friends (those real friends) actually cares about and plays old games. He is even here on GOG, though almost inactive.
Pretty much. Except for my nephew who I have gotten to play NES, SNES, GEN, and TG16 games. Though I'm sure once he gets older he'll forget about them and it'll be all about Call of Duty. >_<
I do have 2 friends who cares for old games, but both are not here (even I told them).

So, you are not alone :)
My friends like older console games but they don't play pc games. I've told a few real life friends about this place, and nobody really seemed to care so I shut up about it

sigh, I'm sorry you don't like Mass Effect, cus I do. And I own over 100 games here on GoG.

Not that I know too many other people that care for old games (actually, make that pretty much all sorts of games) like I do.
In my local friends circle probably only one or two people would know what I am speaking of if telling them about these games. However I still like the good old games and it reminds me on my own childhood.
I'm pretty fortunate that majority of my friends are into old school games. This enable me to talk to various classic games with them at ease. Majority of them are huge fan of 90s RPG stuff so it's pretty fun stuff to talk about.
My wife is a good listener when I talk about games in general, not just old ones. She tries some, but most only briefly.
Other than that I mostly just talk about newer games with my friends with small exceptions (like Ghotic).

hmm.. my wife is only into Civilization 4 and a couple of casual puzzle games :) No chance to tell her anything about any other games ;)

Mine, except an interest in WoW (very casual), likes adventures mostly, or just games with a good story. Mostly she just starts playing for a while, not to completion. But she does listen to my ramblings about games, old or new, even if they don't really interest her :)
must be a thrill really to have someone at home to play old games with :) (even though eventually you're going to need two or more computers ;)

I just don't understand why for example some of my friends like sci-fi movies but can't be dragged to games like Blade Runner or Gemini Rue. I mean, it's the same genre, but more interactive medium - thus better, isn't it?! :D

anyways, my neverending search continues...
