Been thinking of this since my last gog purchase last week and thought i'ld drop the idea and see what others had to say on the matter and maybe someone from gog will see this post and consider the idea for future implementation.

Wouldn't it be a viable option to have pre-paid gog cards? i'm not sure if thats the correct term, but i'm speaking of something like what Xbox Live and Playstation Network have where you can buy cards in-stores with a set amount of currency (i.e $20, $50, etc) on them that you can then deposit on your account to buy stuff off of the respective networks.

This would be a nice alternative to using a credit/debit card for those that don't have immediate access to one.

And yes, i know it may not even be possible to realistically implement the idea, so it's just that.....AN IDEA :)
Been suggested before (a couple of times), the only reasons to not do it are logistical and financial: GOG does not necessarily have the resources to produce and distribute the cards... yet.
I'm afraid this automatically introduces regional pricing, which GOG doesn't do.

Say there are cards at 12 and 20 GOGPoints, and they cost $5.99 and $9.99 in the US of A. How much would they cost in the Eurozone? in Poland? UK? Sweden? Japan? Vietnam? It's not like they can change the prices of those physical goods (the cards) around every day just because the currencies change values related to each other.

A $5.99 GOG costs $US 5.99 no matter where in the world you are, if you pay more than the current exchange rate it's due to a retarded bank or another middleman.

I wonder what the advantage is over credit cards?

Maybe the one time relative transaction fee is smaller but then the money is not freely available anymore and can only be used for GOGs. Maybe gifting would be easier.

The only alternative that I would like: GOG should allow me to play now and pay later. :)

Some people do not have access to credit cards, so this might be useful for them.

Doesn't PayPal effectively cover this? I mean for those that don't have round the clock access to credit cards doesn't PayPal allow you to set up through your bank account? Now, I can see how just seeing a pre-paid card on the shelf at Walmart or my gas station or somewhere, can get people who don't know the site to see its name and therefore maybe check it out.

Overall I think the idea is good if GOG thinks of it from a marketing perspective but not so much from my perspective as a regular buyer here.
