Were the battes turn-based or in real time?

Did it have fantasy elements on it? If it did, it could be Albion (it doesn't have Fallout-like graphics, though).

Could it be Alien Earth? http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/alien-earth

Or maybe Harbinger (i think this game fits your description)? http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/harbinger

Or maybe Zax: The Alien Hunter? http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/zax-the-alien-hunter

I'm really curious to find out which game you're talking about.
Still none of those... :( It was probably just a small studio clone of some better-known game, it's really hard to find. I keep browsing for "must kill you with blood javelin", as it was the most distinctive line of dialogue in there, but I get no results whatsoever. I don't think you could create a character, maybe choose between male and female, but that was about it.

It wasn't turn-based and I don't think it had fantasy elements (I never left the first city, though).

Some of that sounds a bit like Anachronox, it does start with a fly through to the station until you meet Sly Boots at Rowdy's...
Could it be The Creed?

Freaking massive ship in the intro.

OH. MY. GOD.

Yes. God, yes, this is it! All these years looking for it, and there you have it! I could kiss you right now (though it probably wouldn't be pretty nor highly appreciated by both parties).

Thank you so much! Seriously! I knew the GOG community wouldn't let me down.

[EDIT] also, I'm betting you are right in the other thread Sinistar linked to, as well. :P

You probably got it.

"Take the role of either Guy Kreed or Gene Matrix to interact with the Government, the Brotherhood and the Order - the three factions that run the city."

It fits exactly into what the OP described.
Nice work, jkiiskinen!

There is a wishlist entry for it. I voted - it looks really cool!
That does look like an interesting game. I had never heard of it.

Unfortunately, it seems really hard to find... :\ so, yeah, I guess hoping GOG will bring it over is my best chance of getting it, right now. Which isn't likely to happen, with only 23 votes so far.

Also, it never crossed my mind this was an Electronic Arts published title. Well, it goes to show how much I cared about that...

ooh, probably should have seen this thread earlier. I still have my CD of this game. I may even still have the original manual too. No box tho I don't think. :(

Your powers are awesome. I shall have to put your brain in a blender and drink it, so that I become more mighty in the ways of game finding. ;)

+1 for the great work!

(Oh, and the brain-in-a-blender bit is a very obtuse reference to the obscure comic book Shatter.)
