I noticed you can get Freespace and expansion both seperately for 6 a piece. Any chance someone can opt for a bundle of both games at $10?

GOG is always running sales, I'm sure eventually they will have (another) Freespace one someday. However, if you are trying to bargain for a deal right now, it doesn't work that way.

Try participating in one of the various GOG promoted contests or the more frequent user promoted contests. That way you could get one of them for free. Or both, who knows?

I actually got one of them for free because of a buy 1 get another free promotion from gog.

You only need to buy FS2. If you use the truly excellent open-source version provided by the FS2Open Project, their handy-dandy installer will also offer to install the FS1-to-FS2 Mod which, well, obviously, is a full port of Freespace 1 to the Freespace 2 engine.
