We all know the GOG guys tweak the games to run right on modern systems, but there are some games out there that are very hard to get running, or even impossible. With the publishers GOG has now are there any games that jump out at you for being ones they might have the ability to release, but have not due to problems getting them running?

For instance Thief: The Dark Project is almost impossible to get working on Vista or Win7 without the ddfix, which I assume GOG could not use. Shadows of the Empire and Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine do not work at all for me, no matter what I do and try. GOG does not have Lucasarts or Eidos as publishing partners of course, but I am wondering about games from those companies they do.

If I don't remember wrongly, there have been cases where they couldn't get a game to work at first but later got another game with a similar problem and managed to find a solution then. There are also a few games which have a Windows version but GOG has released the DOS version instead - which may very well be due to compatibility problems with the Windows version.

Yeah, the DVD version of Tex Murphy: Overseer is a good example.

I just wonder if an Eidos deal is announced next week if Thief would actually be in it, since they would essentially have to make their own ddfix which I assume would be a lot of work.

You know, I've been wondering this same thing. But nothing really comes to mind right now.

Why can't they distribute ddfix? Is there a license or something for it?
