Mark Leung: Revenge of the Bitch
I have no idea if it's any good, but the trailer is insane.
well my Recettear play time is up round 140 hours i would have to it's been good value.
I bought Reccetear and Shira Oka on the sale the other week, haven't downloaded Shira yet but Reccetear is awesome.

Seriously.

I'm a stickler for good JRPGs and require excellence and Reccetear simply has it in spadefuls. Wry humour, interesting gameplay and, well, it's just great. I highly recommend it. But it IS hard - I have to restart now because there is no fucking way to get that 200,000 bucks in the week I have left. ARGH. But I'm looking forward to restarting - I now know I need to undersell to these stupid and poor girls so they'll come back and hopefully I can start hocking stuff off to them as they become more regular... At least thats what I think I'm supposed to do - I don't want to look up tutorials or walkthroughs - this game's too cool for that. Really.

And the combats great too, very old school but satisfying - one button for attack, another to switch super attacks and the other to do supers.

I have a question for you Reccetear players - should I simply focus on swordsboy or swich to and fro with the ninjabitch? I get tired of failing dungeons and thus wasting a day when I NEED that loot to sell. Is it a good idea to simply focus on one char and boost it up to insane levels or spread out for later dungeons?

BTW really looking forward to Shira Oka. :D

Focusing on one char is probably best. That way you can more easily get him/her good equipment, you don't have to undersell to the other heroes, and you won't have to waste time leveling others up. "Swordsboy" (or any of the others) is good enough to finish all dungeons imo, Not that you're likely to get there during the main story.

For those still looking for good indie jRPGs, there are some free ones made with RPG maker. It's just that there are a lot more bad ones.
I'd recommend Exit Fate (shameless Suikoden 2 ripoff but better story) and Last Scenario (nice subversion of the classic jRPG plot) as the best of the lot. There are others that can be good depending on your tastes: Legionwood, Embric of Wulhammer or Alter Aila for instance.

Edit: additional info

Just in case you didn't know, both games use a looping system. So if you're finding it impossible to complete in the current loop, don't start over. Let yourself fail and the subsequent loops will become a little easier.

I think I've played Shira Oka for around 15 hours now, I've gotten one of the 10 endings and I'm on my 4th or 5th loop -- and it's still just as fun now as it was when I first started playing it.

And it gets even funnier later on, since you can "remember" stuff from previous loops. Sometimes with absolutely hilarious effects :D

/facepalm

Thanks for the info... Good thing I DIDN'T restart Reccetear! *sigh of relief* Should be MUCH easier the second time around that's for sure!

I only have one problem with the game. I get too emotionally attached to the characters and have trouble taking pauses for food and quitting for the night. Yes it's just a game, no that knowledge doesn't help any.
