I recently remembered playing a game a long time ago but cannot remember what it was called.

Is was a space strategy game about a solar system where a rogue star passed though

The inhabitants build arks to evacuate but not enough arks were available so the survivors buried cloning chambers thoughout the solar system to re awaken their species when everything settled down, there were 4 factions, i remember 1 was called "the combine".

The main game screen was lots of asteroids orbiting the 2 stars, you could mine these and build ships, research improved weapons and shields and such.
You could zoom in on an asteroid and see the surrounding space in 3-d and build space structures and ships with construction ships.

An asteroid would be divided into sectors and you could invade these.
Space combat was also in 3-d

anyone know the name? it's probably about 12-15 year old i think.

greets
Gravmania
Was this a Windows or DOS game?
Same graphics as the first Homeworld?
Only game that "The combine" brings to mind is half life for some reason, I dont know why and it certainly doesnt fit your description

If it was like 15 years ago it will almost certainly have been a windows game,

Ah, this isn't that old...I just played this last last year and it came about early 2000 I think....now I have to remember which game it was - I bought alot of space strategy around the same time.

Maybe Dark Horizon ...but let me check my libraries and confirm that.

EDIT:

More names of games I got around the time I played it:

Star Ruler
Gemini Wars
Genesis Rising

Malkari?

That sure sounds like a winning match on all points. Shame I missed it when it came out, sounds like it probably doesn't run under modern Windows well.
Yes, it was Malkari. Thank you all very much
You are kicking ass at these threads! +1
